PitchFuzz is a multi-effect algorithm for the H9 Harmonizer stompbox from Eventide, announced in May 2017. It is not a separate pedal: it runs inside the H9, chaining fuzz into three pitch shifters and then into two delays within a single algorithm. Eventide product specialist Alan Chaput described the intent in the announcement: "Our aim with PitchFuzz was to create a single algorithm that could run distortion/fuzz into Eventide pitch shifters and then into Eventide delays."1

Guitar World's coverage notes that the combination is aimed at letting players recreate classic guitar sounds of Jimmy Page, Brian May, Frank Zappa, Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai.2

What PitchFuzz does

PitchFuzz combines fuzz, three pitch shifters and two delays, which Eventide describes as offering "an amazing range of tonal shapes."1 In practice that means a distorted or fuzzed signal can be pitch shifted in up to three voices and then fed through two delays, all inside the H9. For players, it covers ground you would otherwise need separate fuzz, octave and pitch and delay pedals to reach, with the H9's own controls and preset system managing the algorithm.

The algorithm ships with 36 presets, some of them crafted by Eventide artists.1

How H9 owners get it

What PitchFuzz costs depends on which H9 you own:

OwnerPriceHow
H9 MaxFreeEvery new algorithm free, for life13
New H9 or H9 CoreFreeCoupon for a free algorithm included with new units, usable for PitchFuzz14
Existing H9 and H9 Core owners$19.99Purchase via the H9 Control app1324

The H9 Max arrangement means owners get every new algorithm free, for life, so PitchFuzz required no purchase on that unit.1

Where it sits in Eventide's range

PitchFuzz is one of Eventide's algorithms for the H9 platform rather than a standalone hardware release. Eventide announced its availability on May 18, 2017, priced at $19.99 for H9 and H9 Core users, with existing owners able to purchase it through the H9 Control app.5 The algorithm ships with 36 presets, some crafted by Eventide artists, and Eventide describes it as allowing players to recreate some of the classic guitar sounds of Jimmy Page, Brian May, Frank Zappa, Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai.5

Questions

Is the Eventide PitchFuzz a pedal or an algorithm?

PitchFuzz is not a standalone pedal. It is a multi-effect algorithm that runs on Eventide's H9 Harmonizer stompbox. Eventide designed it as a single algorithm that runs distortion or fuzz into Eventide pitch shifters and then into Eventide delays, so the H9 itself provides the hardware, controls and presets.

Which Eventide units run PitchFuzz?

PitchFuzz runs on the H9 Harmonizer stompbox, including the H9 and H9 Core models. New H9 and H9 Core units come with a coupon for a free algorithm that can be used for PitchFuzz. H9 Max owners get it free, for life, as with every new algorithm.

How many presets come with PitchFuzz?

PitchFuzz includes 36 presets, some of them crafted by Eventide artists, according to Eventide product specialist Alan Chaput in the announcement press release.

Who designed the Eventide PitchFuzz?

PitchFuzz was designed by Eventide. Product specialist Alan Chaput stated the aim was to create a single algorithm that could run distortion/fuzz into Eventide pitch shifters and then into Eventide delays.
