The F-Pedals Tremelon is a dual tremolo pedal, a take on tremolo that puts two completely independent tremolo engines in one enclosure. Each engine has its own volume, depth and speed controls, so the two can run at different rates and depths at the same time, and the pedal adds Turbo and Slowmo sections on top. Premier Guitar reported its release in September 2017 at a suggested retail price of $1391.

Two engines, one pedal

A conventional tremolo pedal modulates the volume of your signal with one LFO, giving the familiar pulsing effect. The Tremelon doubles that up: F-Pedals describes it as "a classic dual tremolo featuring two completely independent engines"1. Because each engine is controlled separately, the pedal can produce two tremolo patterns at once, for example a slow swell layered under a faster pulse, without a second pedal or a loop switcher.

Guitar Interactive Magazine's Jonathan Graham covered the release shortly after, describing the Tremelon as "a Dual Tremolo pedal from F-Pedals" and noting the same Turbo and Slowmo sections2.

Controls and Turbo mode

The control set covers both engines and the two extra sections:

  • Separate control of the volume, depth and speed of each tremolo engine
  • Turbo and Slowmo sections with their own controls
  • Speed of each engine can be controlled by foot with the optional FXP external expression pedal, sold separately1

On the character of the extra modes, the press release is direct: "Use the Turbo mode for a faster frequency and slightly more triangle square wave sound"1. In other words, Turbo pushes the modulation faster and gives the waveform a slightly more squared edge than the standard setting.

The FXP expression pedal is an optional extra sold separately, not included with the Tremelon1.

Hardware and power

The pedal runs on a standard 9V DC supply with a center negative plug, the same arrangement as most compact pedals, so it will sit on a typical pedalboard power supply without adapters1. The enclosure carries custom black chrome bolts and diffuse LED lights, and the potentiometers have position indicators so knob settings can be read at a glance12.

At 3.6 inches by 2.0 inches by 1.5 inches, it is a compact unit by dual-effect standards1.

Questions

Can you control the Tremelon's speed with an expression pedal?

Yes. The speed of each tremolo engine can be controlled by foot using the optional FXP external expression pedal, which is sold separately. That means one expression pedal can be used to sweep the speed of either engine while you play, rather than reaching down to turn the speed knob on the pedal itself.

What power supply does the F-Pedals Tremelon need?

The Tremelon is compatible with a standard 9V DC supply with a center negative plug. It does not run on any other voltage, so a standard pedalboard power supply output or a 9V DC adapter of the usual type will power it.

How big is the F-Pedals Tremelon?

The Tremelon measures 3.6 inches by 2.0 inches by 1.5 inches, so it is a compact pedal that fits a standard enclosure footprint and takes up little room on a pedalboard.

What does Turbo mode do on the Tremelon?

Turbo mode gives a faster frequency and a slightly more triangle square wave sound, according to F-Pedals. In practice it shifts the tremolo's character toward a quicker, more squared-off modulation than the standard setting, alongside the pedal's Slowmo section.
