The Farmer Factory Colombeta Fuzz is a two-stage fuzz pedal built as a switchable hybrid Fuzz Face variant, with two sets of germanium and silicon transistors onboard. Because either stage can be set to germanium or silicon, one pedal covers four different transistor pairings, which is the Colombeta's whole reason for existing. Stefan Karlsson of Guitar Pedal X described it as "essentially a switchable hybrid Fuzz Face variant with 2 sets of Germanium and Silicon Transistors onboard" when the pedal landed in July 20261.
How the transistor switching works
Each of the two stages, Q1 and Q2, holds a germanium and a silicon transistor, and the player selects which is active in each position. That gives four combinations: Ge + Ge, Ge + Si, Si + Ge, and Si + Si1. For players used to choosing between a germanium and a silicon Fuzz Face, the Colombeta puts both choices, and the hybrids between them, in one box.
| Stage | Germanium option | Silicon option |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | Mullard OC41 | Motorola 2N2905A |
| Q2 | Mullard GET114 | Siemens BC307 |
A later look at the author's own unit lists the transistors as OC41, 2N2905A, GET113/GET114 and NC307, so the exact parts fitted can vary between pedals2.
Controls
The control set is short and Fuzz Face-like: Level, Fuzz and Bias, with the Bias control labeled Bias Ge1. The Bias knob matters more than on a fixed-transistor fuzz, since germanium response shifts with bias and the pedal's four combinations respond differently.
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson was enthusiastic about the transistor pairings:
"the Ge + Ge combination is blisteringly good - as are each of the Ge + Si and Si + Ge hybrid combinations - with the lead one a little preferred"
Versions and availability
The first editions of the Colombeta had black knobs; later editions have dark red knobs, which Karlsson described as looking superior2. The pedal is not regularly stocked: these appear only relatively occasionally on the Farmer Factory Reverb.com store, listed at €250 and equivalent1.
As of the July 2026 review, there were no demo videos of the Colombeta available, so written descriptions are the main reference for how it sounds1.
Questions
What transistors does the Farmer Factory Colombeta Fuzz use?
The Colombeta carries four transistors across its two stages. Q1 uses a germanium Mullard OC41 or a silicon Motorola 2N2905A, while Q2 uses a germanium Mullard GET114 or a silicon Siemens BC307. A later look at the author's unit also lists GET113 and NC307 variants alongside the GET114 and BC307, so the exact transistor fitted can differ between pedals.
How many transistor combinations does the Colombeta offer?
Four. Because each of the two stages can be set to germanium or silicon, the pedal offers Ge + Ge, Ge + Si, Si + Ge and Si + Si. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson called the Ge + Ge combination blisteringly good and found both hybrid combinations strong as well, with a slight preference for the lead arrangement.
Where can you buy the Farmer Factory Colombeta?
The Colombeta is not a regularly stocked pedal. Guitar Pedal X reports that these appear only relatively occasionally on the Farmer Factory Reverb.com store, listed at €250 and equivalent. If you want one, watching that store for a listing is the way it has been sold so far.
Are there demo videos of the Colombeta Fuzz?
As of the July 2026 review on Guitar Pedal X, there were no demo videos of the Colombeta available. Stefan Karlsson noted this directly in his write-up of the pedal, so players judging it before buying have had to rely on written descriptions of the circuit and its transistor combinations.
