The Fishman AFX Pro EQ Mini is a compact preamp and EQ pedal voiced for acoustic instruments. Fishman describes it as offering "quality preamplification and critical equalization voiced specifically for acoustic instruments," combining a premium preamp with a studio-quality 5-band EQ12. Its analog preamp provides up to 20dB of gain and impedance matching for most passive, active and magnetic acoustic instruments, which makes it a front end for a piezo or soundhole pickup going into a mixer, acoustic amp or audio interface1.
Controls and signal path
The pedal's front panel carries a level control, an input trim to dial in the best sound with the lowest noise, and five EQ faders covering bass, middle and treble plus low cut and brilliance5. Fishman describes the tone side as four bands of acoustic tone control to sculpt bass, mids, treble and brilliance1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Level | Sets the pedal's output level5 |
| Input trim | Dials in the best sound with the lowest noise for the pickup connected5 |
| Bass fader | Shapes the low end1 |
| Middle fader | Shapes the midrange1 |
| Treble fader | Shapes the upper midrange and highs1 |
| Low cut fader | Cuts low frequencies5 |
| Brilliance fader | Adds top-end sheen1 |
One feature sets the AFX Mini pedals apart from straightforward preamps: an Audio Path switch that lets you choose the audio path on which the effect is processed1. Fishman's dual-path design means processing can run on the analog path or the digital path, and the pedal's digital signal processing is 32-bit1.
Fishman specifies its 910-R (120VAC) or 910-U (230VAC) power adapter to ensure the published specifications1. Use the correct adapter for your region's mains voltage.
Where it came from
GuitarPlayer's review of the AFX Mini series, by Jimmy Leslie, notes the lineage: "Based on Fishman's Platinum preamp, the Pro EQ Mini provides up to 20dB of gain and impedance matching for a variety of" acoustic pickups5. Premier Guitar gave the pedal a Gear Award in 2023, listing it at $119.95 at the time6. Fishman's current product page lists it at $129.95 as of 26 October 2026, so the list price has gone up since launch4.
The AFX Mini series
The Pro EQ Mini is the preamp and EQ of the family. Fishman's AFX line for acoustic players also includes the AFX Pocket Blender Mini, AFX EchoBack Mini, Broken Record, AFX BlueChorus Mini, AFX AcoustiVerb and AFX AcoustiComp Mini, plus the larger Pro EQ Pedal7. Fishman positions the series as a way to optimize acoustic guitar tone while recording2. Questions
How much does the Fishman AFX Pro EQ Mini cost?
Fishman's product page listed the AFX Pro EQ Mini at $129.95 USD as of 26 October 2026. Premier Guitar's 2023 review gave the price as $119.95, so the list price has risen since the pedal launched. Prices can vary by retailer, and the pedal has been listed as out of stock at Fishman's own store.
Will the AFX Pro EQ Mini work with a passive piezo pickup?
Yes. Fishman describes the pedal's analog preamp as providing up to 20dB of gain and impedance matching for most passive, active and magnetic acoustic instruments. A passive piezo under-saddle or under-bridge pickup is exactly the kind of source that benefits from that impedance matching and gain before it reaches a mixer or acoustic amp.
Can I use the AFX Pro EQ Mini with a magnetic soundhole pickup?
Yes. Fishman states the preamp provides gain and impedance matching for most passive, active and magnetic acoustic instruments, and magnetic soundhole pickups fall under that description. The input trim lets you set the level for the pickup you are using to get the best sound with the lowest noise.
What other pedals are in the Fishman AFX Mini series?
Fishman's AFX Mini line for acoustic players includes the Pocket Blender, EchoBack, Broken Record, BlueChorus, AcoustiVerb and AcoustiComp pedals, alongside the Pro EQ Mini. The series also includes the larger Pro EQ Pedal. The Mini pedals share a compact format and an Audio Path switch that chooses whether processing runs on the analog or digital path.
Is the Fishman AFX Pro EQ Mini still in stock?
As of 26 October 2026, Fishman's own product page showed the AFX Pro EQ Mini as out of stock. The model number is PRO-AFX-EQ2, which can help when checking with other dealers.
