The Flamma FC14 Analog Chorus is an ultra-compact micro pedal from Flamma Innovation that produces a classic analog chorus effect. Chorus works by doubling your signal and detuning the copy slightly, thickening single-note lines and clean chords. The FC14 does this the old way, with a BBD (bucket brigade device) chip in its path, which is the component that gives traditional analog choruses their character1.

Controls

The FC14 keeps things to the three typical controls of a simple modulation pedal. Flamma's page describes "three separate knobs for volume, depth, and rate," and Pedal of the Day spells out what each one does23.

ControlWhat it does
LevelVolume, the overall output level of the pedal3
DepthEffect intensity, how strong the chorus is3
RateSpeed of the modulation3

Pedal of the Day summed up the layout this way:

"This light pink beauty has an easy-to-use control set and a small footprint, to easily slide into any rig, big or small."

Analog circuit and bypass

Flamma describes the FC14 as a "classic analog chorus effect with a durable metal shell and true-bypass circuit"2. True bypass means that when the pedal is off, your guitar's signal passes through it untouched, with no buffering in the way. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio confirmed the analog credentials plainly, calling it "a $40 analog chorus (read, with a BBD chip in it)"1.

Power

The FC14 runs on a 9V power supply. Flamma notes that, like all pedals in the FC series, it "fits comfortably in tight places and can easily be powered by a 9v power supply"2. The maker's page does not give a current draw figure or mention battery operation, so plan your supply accordingly.

Where it came from and what reviewers said

Pedal of the Day reviewed the FC14 in July 2022, introducing it as one of Flamma Innovation's newest offerings and praising how easily it fits a board3. In September 2022, Delicious Audio covered it in an article on chorus pedals, in the mini-chorus pedal category1. Of its sound, De Gregorio wrote that "the FC14 delivers the classic sound of analog choruses that costs twice or thrice as much"1.
