The FOMOfx Virtual Jeff is a digital pitch controller from the Australian maker FOMOfx. Its core idea is simple: it lets you add a whammy bar to any acoustic or electric guitar, whether or not the instrument has a tremolo bridge1. It belongs to the wider family of octave and pitch pedals, which use digital processing to shift or bend a guitar's pitch.
Where it came from
MusicRadar, together with Guitarist and Total Guitar, tracked down FOMOfx at NAMM 2016 in January 2016 for a video demo of the pedal1. At that same show, FOMOfx won Best in Show for the Virtual Jeff, as Guitar World reported2.
The later versions
The original Virtual Jeff was updated in 2021 as the Virtual Jeff Pro. Guitar World's report on the Pro quotes FOMOfx promising "luscious waggles, pitch-perfect bends, killer dive bombs and no tuning hassles" with the improved unit2.

The current version in the line is the Virtual Jeff Wammy, which RockBoard's PedalPedia describes as a pitch shifter, octaver and harmonizer3. A demo video of the Wammy by Sophie Burrell appears on the maker's product page3.
