The Freek Out! is a fuzz pedal from Freekish Blues, and it is another variation on a 1960s fuzz, this time coming in around the mid-'60s. Premier Guitar's reviewer described the territory as "Think Maestro, Univox and MKII Tone Bender, and that will give you an idea of the vibe," with the mids more accentuated than those circuits1. If you are weighing it against other fuzz pedals, the two-control layout and mid-forward character are the things that set it apart.
Controls
The Freek Out! keeps things simple with two controls1:
What reviewers found
Premier Guitar's reviewer came away impressed by the pedal's flexibility: "The range of tones was incredible, and I was easily able to pull up a pretty convincing Keef sound." The same review heard a "Walking on the Sun"-style fuzz from the pedal, and early Zeppelin tones overall when pairing it with a Danelectro U2 and an early '50s Supro Comet1.
Related pedals
Freekish Blues also makes the Coily Fuzz, which was reviewed alongside the Freek Out! by Premier Guitar1, and the Chubb Up! Octave Fuzz.
A similarly named pedal from a different maker is the Ohm Made Electronics Fuzz Out!, a one-knob fuzz that Ohm Made Electronics described as ranging "from a mild fuzzy overdrive, to a thick harmonic sustain," built with Schottky diodes23. Its single knob controls the fuzz output, from light crunch to a wall of fuzz, and Pedal of the Day's reviewer noted that with only one control "you need to sit down with this guy, as well as with your guitar(s), and figure out" how it responds2.
