The GUP Tech TATouh! Texas Treble Boost Douche Edition is a treble boost pedal built around a single NPN transistor, with one volume knob and a three-way boost voicing switch offering Low, Mid and High settings. GUP Tech describes it as "the ultimate inspiration from the Range Master, the Diaz Texas Ranger, the Pedal Pawn Texas Twang," the classic treble boost lineage that pushes an amp's front end into breakup. As the maker puts it, "it push the amp and makes it rumble."12

What it does to your sound

A treble boost is one of the oldest boost circuits in the book: it lifts the high end and adds gain so that a cranked tube amp breaks up harder and brighter. GUP Tech frames the TATouh! in exactly those terms on the Douche Edition page: "Want to rip off your Vox AC30 like Gallagher? Or your vintage Fender like Stevie? Let's start here."1 The three voicings let you choose how much top end the pedal throws at the amp, from the Low setting through Mid to the full High treble push.1

The name, GUP Tech explains, is "Texas Armadillo Treble with a surprised 'ouh!' to make it sound like tatou/tattoo."1

Controls and power

The pedal runs on 9Vdc center negative and draws 3mA, a very light load that any standard 9V supply handles easily.1 It is a true-bypass design, so the signal passes through untouched when the pedal is off.1

The Douche Edition

The Douche Edition is GUP Tech's sparkling limited edition box treatment of the standard TATouh! Texas Treble Boost, which shares the same circuit: one volume knob, one NPN transistor and the same three boost voicings.2 The standard version is offered in Army green, Cream and Orange color options.2 The Douche Edition's UV printed enclosure design was updated in July 2024.1

The Douche Edition was listed as "Re-stocking soon" on the GUP Tech page as of 2026-10-26.1

Who makes it

GUP Tech describes the TATouh! Texas Treble Boost as "Texas Armadillo Treble with a surprised "ouh!" to make it sound like tatou/tattoo," a name the company plays on directly.1 The pedal itself is built around a single NPN transistor with one volume knob and three boost voicings, Low, Mid and High.1

Questions

Is the GUP Tech TATouh! true bypass?

Yes. GUP Tech lists a true-bypass design on the TATouh! Texas Treble Boost Douche Edition product page, so the pedal passes your guitar's signal straight through when it is off, with no buffering in the chain.

What does TATouh! mean?

GUP Tech says the name is Texas Armadillo Treble with a surprised "ouh!" added, to make it sound like tatou, the French word for armadillo, or like tattoo. Tatou is also the French-Canadian nickname the pedal plays on.

What is the difference between the TATouh! and the Douche Edition?

The circuit is the same treble boost with one volume knob, one NPN transistor and three boost voicings. The Douche Edition is GUP Tech's sparkling limited edition box treatment, and the UV printed enclosure design was updated in July 2024.

How much current does the TATouh! draw?

GUP Tech lists power consumption at 3mA on both the TATouh! Texas Treble Boost and the Douche Edition pages, which is a very light draw for a 9Vdc center-negative pedal.

Where is the TATouh! made?

GUP Tech builds all of its pedals in Saguenay, Québec, Canada, and the TATouh! Texas Treble Boost Douche Edition is made there by the company itself.
