The GUPtech Deep-C Compressor - Douche Edition is a compressor with a separate clean volume boost in one box. GUPtech describes it as "some badass dirty old comp paired with a clean volume boost," based on the old Ross compressor, with added Clip and Attack knobs that the maker calls the Hot Rodded Ross compressor edition1. The Douche Edition is a limited run in a "hammered blue" box1.
What it does and how it is controlled
The pedal puts two functions side by side: a compressor voiced after the old Ross design, and a clean volume boost placed before the compression. GUPtech gives the compressor two knobs beyond a standard Ross layout21:
Two footswitches run the two sides independently: the left footswitch activates the compressor, the right footswitch the Boost (Pre-Comp)1. The boost can also be used alone without the compressor being active, which GUPtech says turns the pedal into "a cool 2-in-1 Swiss knife"1.
On the maker's page for the standard Deep-C, GUPtech suggests a use for the boost section: "But use it to boost your ODs downstream (EQD Zoar in my case)," attributed there to Stephan Desrosiers2. That makes the boost usable as a clean push into overdrives further down the chain, in the manner of a dedicated clean boost.
Versions and availability
The Deep-C was formerly known as the SQWZR AF1. The same circuit is sold as the standard GUP Tech Deep-C Compressor, which GUPtech lists as re-stocking soon2. The Douche Edition is the limited variant, in a super limited "hammered blue" box1, and GUPtech's page showed only 1 unit left as of 26 October 20261.
The Douche Edition is a limited run, and GUPtech's page showed only 1 unit left at the time of writing1. The standard Deep-C Compressor carries the same circuit and is listed as re-stocking soon2.
Power
The Deep-C runs on 9Vdc, center negative only, and GUPtech lists power consumption at 4mA1. That draw is low enough that it sits lightly on any standard pedalboard supply.
