The GUPtech Echorus is a chorus-delay pedal from GUPtech's Jonny Rock Gear line. GUPtech describes it as "basically a very short echo on which optical vactrol based modulation has been applied to create a warm and organic chorus effect." In other words, the circuit starts from a very short delay and wobbles it with an optical vactrol, the light-dependent component some builders use to get a softer modulation character than a standard chorus. The pedal is listed at £107.00 GBP as of 26 October 20261.
Controls
The Echorus keeps its panel small: two knobs, one switch.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| D TIME | Determines the echo time, about 35 ms to 55 ms1 |
| DEPTH | Sets how much modulation is applied to the delayed signal1 |
| SPEED | Adjusts the rate of modulation1 |
| TOGGLE switch | Kills the dry signal1 |
The D TIME range is what separates the Echorus from a conventional delay: at roughly 35 to 55 ms, the echo is far too short to hear as repeats, which is exactly the territory where a delayed signal starts to read as a second voice. That is also where the doubler setting comes from1.
Using it as a doubler
GUPtech says the Echorus "can be used as a doubler effect to expand your sound dimension" when the DEPTH and SPEED controls are set at minimum. With modulation dialed out, the pedal leaves a plain short echo behind the dry signal, the classic doubling arrangement. The TOGGLE switch is the companion control here: it kills the dry signal, so the pedal can be run as the modulated voice on its own rather than blended with the clean guitar1.
Power and build
The Echorus takes a 9V DC output with negative center and is compatible with a standard 9V adaptor, and a 5mm LED shows the on/off state1. GUPtech builds all of its pedals in Saguenay, Québec, Canada, and a quickstart guide is available for the pedal1.
The maker's listing gives the price in pounds sterling (£107.00 GBP) even though GUPtech is a Canadian builder, so the checkout currency may differ from the listed figure1.
If you are comparing this with other modulation pedals, see the site's pages on Chorus Pedals and Delay Pedals, or GUPtech's WNR.
