GUPtech MWAC Gold Tone Rush edition

The GUPtech MWAC Gold Tone Rush edition is a noise gate pedal, described by the maker as a "GUPtech - MWAC 4-wire Noise Gate Pedal"¹. A noise gate quiets the hiss and hum that comes with high-gain amps and pedals, and a 4-wire design places the gate inside a pedal's effects loop so it can clean up the signal between gain stages rather than only at the end of the chain. This edition carries exactly the same circuit as the original GUPtech MWAC, in a unique Gold box, and the maker states that only one will ever exist¹. For players comparing gates, it sits alongside pedals like the Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor and the Fortin Amps Fortin Zuul on the Noise Gate Pedals type page.

What it does

The Gold Tone Rush edition is a special version of the GUPtech MWAC. GUPtech describes it as "Exactly the same circuit as the original GUPtech MWAC, in a unique Gold box"¹, so its behavior as a gate is that of the standard MWAC: the electronics are unchanged, and the difference is purely the enclosure. The regular MWAC has been offered in Orange, Army Green and Purple color options³.

The Gold Tone Rush edition and GUPtech's other editions

The Gold Tone Rush edition is a single-unit release: the maker states that only one will ever exist, and it is built with exactly the same circuit as the original GUPtech MWAC, in a unique Gold box¹. It carried a sale price of £120.00 GBP and is listed as sold out¹.
