The GUPtech PorCorn Douche Edition is a preamp pedal built by GUPtech, a pedal maker based in Saguenay, Québec, Canada, where all of its pedals are made in house. It is a take on the Orange RockerVerb amplifier, which GUPtech describes as "one of the most loved amp ever." The pedal uses JFET transistors, the same kind of transistor-based approach other GUPtech preamps such as the VeJ7 - POR-Corn are built around, to put the amp's gain structure on a pedalboard.1
The Douche Edition was announced on 14 September 2022 as a limited run, and the pedal is now sold out.1
Controls and circuit
The pedal is built around four gain stages using JFET transistors, which GUPtech describes as "pretty awesome." For controls it carries what the maker calls a "Classic three bands EQ," along with an input Gain, a Gain control and a volume control. That gives a player the amp-style arrangement of a pre-gain stage, a main gain stage and a master volume, plus bass, middle and treble bands for shaping the tone.1
Power
The PorCorn Douche Edition runs on 9 to 18Vdc, center negative, and draws 3mA. That low draw means it sits easily on a pedalboard supply, and the 18V option gives headroom for players whose supplies run at that voltage.1
