The Hagerman Amplification Neokløn Mythical Beast Overdrive is an overdrive and boost pedal built around the classic Centaur design. Pedal of the Day describes the NEOKLØN as "a completely re-imagined and re-vamped mythical beast overdrive pedal design", one that "lets you get all the Centaur-related overdrive and boost sounds you've been chasing" but "with improved headroom and lower noise".1
It is sold as a pedal kit rather than a finished pedal, listed under the name neoklon-mythical-beast-pedal-kit, and it carries a list price of $139.00 USD as of 21 September 2026.1
What it does to your sound
Pedal of the Day characterizes the pedal's tone as "Classic, vintage tone", and sums up its reviewer's verdict this way1:
"The Neokløn Mythical Beast Overdrive roars into any rig, bringing tonal balance, speaker crunch and much, much more…"
The claimed improvements over the design it draws from are higher headroom and lower noise, which matters if you run the pedal into a cranked amp or stack it with other gain stages.1
Power and switching
The pedal runs on a 9V DC center-negative supply and draws 20mA, a modest figure that fits a standard pedalboard power supply. Switching is true bypass, so the circuit is out of the signal path when the pedal is off.1
This is a kit: you assemble it yourself before it goes on the board. Hagerman lists the Neokløn Mythical Beast at $139.00 USD, which the maker positions as fitting "into any pedalboard, but any budget, too."1
Where it sits among Hagerman's pedals
Hagerman Amplification offers the Neokløn Mythical Beast Overdrive as a kit at $139.00 USD, a solid-state take on the Centaur-style overdrive and boost formula, placing it among overdrive pedals with a boost function built in.1
