The Pedal Monsters Klone is an overdrive and boost pedal built around the circuit of the Klon Centaur, the overdrive that spawned a whole family of copies known as "klones". Pedal of the Day described it as "a great boost and overdrive pedal" that "will kick your tone into high gear the minute you plug it in"1. It sits in the same territory as other Klon-style pedals such as the 68 Pedals Klone and the Old-Fx Custom Pedals Klone Boost Overdrive, and players shopping this category will also find it on the Boost Pedals and Overdrive Pedals pages.
Controls
The Klone keeps the same control panel layout as the original Klon Centaur, with three knobs1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Output | Sets the overall level of the pedal |
| Treble | Shapes the high end |
| Gain | Sets the amount of drive |
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day's review treated the pedal as a credible take on the Klon formula, saying it "gives the original Klon a real run for its money (so we're told)"1. The same review called it "a secret weapon in many pedalboard arsenals" despite what it described as a "plain, unassuming copper-colored" enclosure1.
"This plain, unassuming copper-colored beauty is a secret weapon in many pedalboard arsenals."
Context: the klone family
The Klon Centaur, made famous as an overdrive pedal, has been copied so widely that clones are a category of their own. A 2025 Pedal of the Day feature, "The Klone Project", rounded up two dozen Klon-style pedals from makers including 68 Pedals, JHS Pedals, Warm Audio, Way Huge Electronics, Pedal Projects and Old-Fx Custom Pedals, among others2. The Pedal Monsters Klone belongs to that family: a Klon-based overdrive and boost in the familiar three-knob format.
Pedal of the Day's 2017 review noted that a newer, nicer-looking version of this pedal was available on the Pedal Monsters website at the time, so the pedal's appearance has varied across its run1.
