The Hangman fx DAGG'R is a 2-in-1 Dynamic Auto-Gain/Gate pedal with two gain channels, Overdrive and Fuzz, built around envelope-driven gain ramping: the pedal watches your pick attack and raises the gain toward a set maximum as you dig in. Guitar Pedal X reviewed it at its 31 October 2025 release, listing it at $23012.
How the gain ramping works
DAGG'R Mode uses pick attack and the Sensitivity control to ramp either channel toward Max Gain, with Smooth controlling the transition and Limit tempering the peak volume. The Sensitivity knob doubles as the trigger threshold, setting how hard you need to play before the ramping kicks in1. A red LED lights when the DAGG'R gain ramping is active, which Guitar Pedal X called "a super handy feature to have"1.
"Really clever Gain-Ramping pedal which really follows your playing style and pick attack for a fantastic interactive performance."
At the end of 2025, Guitar Pedal X placed the DAGG'R as Silver runner-up in its boost and overdrive pedals of the year feature, calling it "a really great innovation for further dynamic playback overall"2.
The controls
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Output Level | Overall output volume1 |
| Gain 1 (Overdrive Gain Level) | Starting gain for the overdrive channel1 |
| Fuzz Gain Level | Gain for the fuzz channel2 |
| 3-way Voicing Switch | Tone Bypass / Stock / Schottky Clipping2 |
| 3-way Mids Switch | Mid Boost / Scooped / Max Boost1 |
| 3-way Auto DAGG'R Switch | O.D. / Off / Fuzz2 |
| Sensitivity | Trigger threshold for the ramping1 |
| Smooth, Max Gain, Limit | Mini ramping controls for transition, ceiling gain and peak volume1 |
The two footswitches are Bypass/Engage on the left and Max Gain Manual Trigger on the right1. Inside, a 2-way External Switch Function switch sets whether the external switch port targets the Max Gain footswitch or the Engage/Bypass footswitch1.
Power and connections
The DAGG'R runs on 9V DC center negative and draws 80mA1. Connections are a TS input, a TS output, and three 1/8-inch ports: a Trigger Switch Port, an Expression Port and an External Switch port1.
At 80mA, the DAGG'R is beyond what most daisy-chain supplies share comfortably; plan a dedicated outlet on your pedalboard power supply.
Variants
There is a pink "Pinkman" variant of the DAGG'R at $280, against the standard version's $23012.

Questions
How does the DAGG'R Mode gain ramping work?
DAGG'R Mode uses your pick attack and the Sensitivity control to ramp either channel toward the Max Gain setting. The Smooth control shapes how the transition happens, and Limit tempers the peak volume so the ramped signal does not run away. In practice the pedal follows how hard you play, raising gain dynamically as your attack increases.
What does the right footswitch on the DAGG'R do?
The left footswitch is Bypass/Engage, and the right footswitch is the Max Gain Manual Trigger, which calls up maximum gain on demand. An internal 2-way switch sets what an external switch targets: either the Max Gain footswitch or the Engage/Bypass footswitch.
Can you use an expression pedal with the Hangman fx DAGG'R?
Yes. The pedal has a 1/8-inch Expression Port alongside a 1/8-inch Trigger Switch Port and a 1/8-inch External Switch port, so expression control and external switching are both wired in through 1/8-inch connections.
What is the difference between the DAGG'R and the Pinkman?
The Pinkman is a pink variant of the DAGG'R, listed at $280 against the standard version's $230 price. Guitar Pedal X describes it as the same pedal in a different finish and price.
Does the DAGG'R work as a noise gate?
The pedal is built as a 2-in-1 Dynamic Auto-Gain/Gate, so gating is part of its design alongside the gain ramping. Guitar Pedal X reviewed it as a combined auto-gain and gate unit with Overdrive and Fuzz channels rather than as a standalone noise gate.
