The Harley Benton MiniStomp Spinner is a rotary speaker simulation pedal in the MiniStomp micro-pedal format. Rotary speaker effects recreate the spinning horn and drum of a Leslie-style cabinet, the sound long associated with organ players and picked up by guitarists looking for a swirling, moving modulation. Rather than one fixed effect, the Spinner offers a three-way switch with Phaser, Vibe and Chorus modes, so one small pedal covers three related flavors of modulation. Harley Benton describes the Phaser mode as giving "loads of silky, swooshy goodness" and says Vibe "takes you back to the Swingin' sixties"1.

The controls

The Spinner keeps things simple: three knobs and a mode switch, plus a single footswitch1.

ControlWhat it does
IntensitySets the depth of the modulation effect
LevelSets the output volume of the effect
SpeedSets the speed of the rotary simulation
Mode switchSelects Phaser, Vibe or Chorus

A single on/off footswitch engages the effect, with a status LED showing whether the pedal is active1.

Power and connections

The pedal runs from a 9 V mains adapter with a center negative plug, which is not included, so you will need your own supply or a pedalboard power output1. At 20 mA of current consumption it is a light load that any standard supply output can handle1. Connections are a single 6.3 mm jack input and a single 6.3 mm jack output1.

No battery option and no power supply in the box: plan for a 9 V center negative adapter before it reaches your board.

Size, build and where it sits

The Spinner is a micro pedal: 92 x 38 x 32 mm and 133 g, in a solid metal housing1. That footprint makes it an easy fit on a crowded board, and the three-mode switch means it can stand in for a dedicated phaser, a chorus or a vibe pedal. If you want to hear how it compares with a dedicated phaser circuit, the site's Phaser Pedals page covers the type, and Harley Benton's Vintage Phase is a related pedal in the range. For the other modes, see Chorus Pedals.
