The CSL Stereo Chorus is a stereo chorus pedal made by Ibanez, part of the company's Master Series L line. It was produced from 1985 to 1986, with a 1986 list price of $109 USD (259 DM)1. Chorus pedals split the signal, modulate a copy of it, and blend it back with the dry sound to create shimmer and width; a stereo chorus does this with separate outputs for a wider effect. For more on the effect type, see Chorus Pedals.
Production and status
The CSL was made for a short window, from 1985 to 1986, and TONEHOME records it as not re-issued1. That places it among the vintage Ibanez chorus pedals that only exist in original form. Ibanez's chorus range since has included the Ibanez CS9 Stereo Chorus, the Ibanez CSMINI and the Ibanez Analog Chorus Mini. The CSL itself has not come back.
Rarity and collectibility
TONEHOME rates the CSL's availability as good and its collectibility as average1. That puts it below the very rare vintage Ibanez pedals, such as the Ibanez BCL Bi-Mode Chorus or the Ibanez BC9 Bi-Mode Chorus, which TONEHOME describes as very rare. Players looking for a CSL should find one without unusual difficulty, and its average collectibility suggests it is sought after as a player's pedal rather than a trophy.
