The Ibanez TWP10 Twin Peaks is a wah pedal that takes a different approach to the standard wah sound. Instead of a single resonant peak sweeping across the frequencies, it uses dual inductor circuitry to create two peaks, one higher and one lower, that can be blended together. Gearnews described the result as "a unique wah voicing"12.

What it does

The dual-inductor circuit creates high and low frequency peaks that can be blended, which is the core of the pedal's character3. Where a conventional wah moves one resonant point up and down the spectrum, the Twin Peaks holds two and lets you set how they sit against each other.

The controls are:

ControlWhat it does
BALANCE knobSets the mix ratio of the two peak levels created by the dual inductor circuit resonances. Counter-clockwise makes the higher-frequency peak more prominent, clockwise makes the lower-frequency peak more prominent2
TONE mode switchSelects the frequency range of the wah effect, HIGH or LOW. The higher range covers 670Hz to 3kHz, the lower range 440Hz to 2kHz12
Master LEVELOutput level control with a 6dB boost available1

MusicRadar's Jonathan Horsley described the Balance control in sound terms: turning it counter-clockwise brings the low-frequency peak to the fore for a darker, throatier sound, while turning it clockwise gives a brighter tone3.

"BALANCE controls the mix ratio of the two peak levels created by the dual inductor circuit resonances."

Design and release

The treadle design is vintage Ibanez in look. MusicRadar called it "not a world away from the retro look of the WH10V3", the current version of the Ibanez WH103. Ibanez also makes the Weeping Demon and Weeping Demon Junior in its wah line.

At launch the Twin Peaks Wah was available for pre-order on Thomann, listed at $158.00 / £145.00 / 169.00€1. Ibanez describes it as a different take on the standard wah sound, built around dual inductor circuitry for a unique wah voicing1.

"The all-new Ibanez Twin Peaks Wah pedal offers a different take on the standard wah wah sound."
