The Jackson Audio Modular Fuzz Pedal with Octave is a fuzz pedal with a built-in octave circuit, built around a modular design: swappable analog plug-in modules let players mix and match classic fuzz tones in a single enclosure. Guitar World described the concept as a pedal that hinges on "a modular design, allowing users to mix and match classic fuzz tones via swappable analog plug-in modules"1.
The modular idea
Instead of committing a player to one fuzz voicing, the pedal takes swappable analog modules, each carrying its own take on a classic fuzz tone. The octave circuit is built into the pedal itself, so the octave effect stays put while the fuzz character changes with whatever module is fitted. For a player who moves between, say, a smooth vintage-style fuzz and a harsher, more aggressive one, the design aims to put both in one box rather than two pedals on the board1.
It sits alongside the related Jackson Audio Modular Fuzz in the maker's range, and more broadly with other fuzz pedals and octave and pitch pedals.
Availability and price
The pedal was announced as available in January 2021 at a list price of $279, with each swappable module selling for $491.
The price and availability here reflect the January 2021 launch coverage. Modules are an ongoing cost on top of the pedal itself, so a collection of tones adds up at $49 per module1.
Physical details
Guitar World reported that the pedal has top-mounted jacks, which keep the footprint compact on a pedalboard, and that it runs on 9V DC power1.
