The Jackson Audio Twin Twelve is an overdrive pedal made in collaboration with Silvertone, based on Silvertone's 1484 Twin Twelve amplifier. Announced on 1 September 2022, it was reported by guitar.com as Jackson Audio's first collaboration with another company, and it carries a list price of $2491. It sits among the brand's drives alongside the Golden Boy, Asabi and The Optimist, and belongs to the wider family of overdrive pedals.
What it does
The pedal recreates the circuit character of the 1484 Twin Twelve, a Silvertone amplifier. Guitar.com reported that, depending on how it is dialled in, the pedal can serve as a studio grade preamp, booster, EQ or overdrive, which places it in territory shared with dedicated preamp pedals and boost pedals as well as drives1.
The control layout is deliberately simple: volume, gain, bass and treble knobs1.
Brad Jackson, President of Jackson Audio, made a strong claim for how closely the pedal tracks the amp it is based on1:
"If you play the two side by side, you can't tell which is the original amp and which is the new pedal"
Design
The enclosure is designed to resemble the front panel of the 1484 Twin Twelve amplifier, including an LED which mirrors the amplifier's standby indicator1. That visual link to the original amp is part of the collaboration's identity: the pedal is presented as a portable version of the amp's preamp rather than a generic drive circuit.
On the show floor
That Pedal Show acquired the Twin Twelve among four gain pedals brought back from NAMM 2023, alongside the Tsakalis Room #40, Cornerstone Colosseum and LST Bossy Gnome. In the episode, Mick introduced the pedal at 4:47 and played its sounds from 6:502.
