The Jetter Red Shift is a standalone overdrive pedal from Jetter that gives a player two amp-style drive voices in one box, selected by a toggle switch. In its Red voicing it aims at a medium gain, valve amp style overdrive; switch to Shift and it moves toward a different, more rawkish character. MusicRadar's reviewer Trevor Curwen described it as "a great pedalboard addition" for players wanting two distinct flavors of amp overdrive that keep the guitar's own voice1.
What it does
The Red Shift is developed from Jetter's earlier Gain Stage Red pedal, and provides that unit's sounds with the toggle switch added1. In the Red position, Curwen found "medium gain valve amp-like overdrive - smooth and full with a nice amount of compression for sustain"1. Switch to Shift, and "you find a sound closer to the throaty rawk of a vintage Marshall"1.
Across both voicings, the review noted a tight bottom end and crisp string separation when playing chords1.
Where it sits in Jetter's range
The Red Shift shares its control layout approach with Jetter's other single drives: Premier Guitar's review of the related Red Square notes that Jetter's pedals "use the same control layouts as the standalone Red Shift and Helium pedals"2. Players comparing it within the range may also look at the Helium or the GS3 Dual Overdrive.
What reviewers said
MusicRadar's verdict, from Trevor Curwen's review:
"For two distinct flavours of amp overdrive that still retain your guitar's true voice, this is a great pedalboard addition."
