The JHS Pedals EHX Green Russian Pi "Moscow Mod" is a modified version of the Electro-Harmonix Green Russian Big Muff Pi, a fuzz pedal in the Big Muff family. JHS Pedals takes the stock green Russian circuit and adds controls to it, describing the result as a mod that "turns this classic fuzz/overdrive into a tone machine"1.
The base pedal is the reissued Green Russian Big Muff Pi, which Electro-Harmonix brought back in a smaller, more pedalboard-friendly enclosure than the original2. MusicRadar noted at the relaunch that the new version takes up a smaller footprint on the pedalboard than the original green Russian units3.
What the mod does
The Moscow Mod adds hardware to the stock enclosure:
- Two toggles on the left side of the pedal. The lower toggle is the Mode toggle1.
- One knob added on the right side of the pedal1.
The Moscow Mod is a modified version of a stock pedal rather than a JHS original design. The stock Green Russian Big Muff Pi is covered separately on its own page.
