The Double Thruster is a bass distortion pedal from Joyo, a modern bass distortion pedal designed to cater to the diverse needs of bassists. In its review, Bass Musician Magazine described it as delivering "from subtle overdrive to full-on fuzz... with versatility and affordability"1.
What it does
The pedal's central feature for bass players is its blend control. Ribeiro called it "Essential for retaining the low end in a distorted signal"1, which is the usual problem with driving a bass: heavy clipping strips out the fundamentals and leaves the sound thin. Blending clean signal back in with the distorted side keeps the low end present under the grit.
As for the range of the drive itself, Ribeiro found that "the Double Thruster can emulate a variety of distortion sounds, from subtle warmth to high-mid, djenty grind"1. That puts it in the territory of modern high-gain bass tones as well as lighter overdrive sounds, and he summed the pedal up as delivering "with versatility and affordability"1.

Size and power
The pedal runs on a 9V DC supply and measures 109 x 72 x 48 mm, weighing 250g1. That is a compact footprint by pedalboard standards, in line with other compact Joyo bass pedals such as the Joyo Tidal Wave Preamp and the Joyo Scylla, both also reviewed by Bass Musician Magazine.
