The Keeley Vapor Drive is an overdrive pedal that doubles as a weed vape, revealed by Robert Keeley in Guitar World in August 2025. Keeley described it as "I have a pedal that you can smoke/vape weed/THC out of. It's the first rechargeable pedal, and it produces the most amazing distortion."1
It is not a pedal you can buy. Keeley has been prevented from selling the Vapor Drive by law, and in a later Guitar World interview he explained the commercial problem plainly: "I can't sell it on Amazon, eBay or Reverb because it's a tobacco or vaping product."2
The Vapor Drive has never been released for sale. Keeley says the law prevents him from selling it, so it exists as a described design rather than a product on the market.1
What it does
As a pedal, the Vapor Drive is an overdrive: Keeley himself calls the distortion it produces "the most amazing distortion."2 What sets it apart from other drives in the Keeley range, such as the Keeley Noble Screamer or the Keeley Manis, is the second function: the circuit is built into a housing you can vape THC out of, and it is rechargeable over USB rather than dependent on a battery or a power supply alone.1
Keeley has described the charging arrangement as charging "at 5 volts through a USB or the standard 9-volt battery," so a player could run it like a conventional pedal on a battery or keep the internal cell topped up from a USB source.1
Why it was never sold
The vape function is what put the pedal outside normal retail channels. Because regulators treat it as a tobacco or vaping product, Keeley says he cannot list it on the major marketplaces where most pedals change hands, and he has been prevented from selling it outright.12
Questions
Can you buy the Keeley Vapor Drive?
No. Robert Keeley has said he has been prevented from selling the Vapor Drive by law, and that he cannot list it on Amazon, eBay or Reverb because it counts as a tobacco or vaping product. It remains an unreleased design that Keeley has described publicly rather than a pedal you can find at dealers.
How is the Vapor Drive powered?
Keeley describes it as his first rechargeable pedal: it charges at 5 volts through a USB connection, and it can also run on the standard 9-volt battery. That combination of a rechargeable drive pedal and a built-in vape function is what makes the design unlike other overdrives.
