Maneco Labs 4AD

The Maneco Labs 4AD is a compact digital effect that blends three things at once: a reverse delay of up to 6 seconds, a pitch shifter, and a modulated reverb. It was announced in November 2023, and Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described it as a "digital, slightly lo-fi (12-bit) compact effect blending an up to 6 seconds reverse delay, a pitch shifter, and modulated reverb featuring tap tempo and Freeze momentary effect"¹.

What it does

The 4AD sits in the delay lane but reaches into pitch and reverb territory, letting the three effects run together in one box. The 12-bit conversion gives it a grainy, lo-fi character by design rather than by accident, which is part of how Maneco Labs frames the pedal¹.

The Freeze function is momentary, so it is held down rather than latched, and the reverb side carries the tap tempo¹.

Controls

The Sample Rate knob is the pedal's distinctive control. Delicious Audio explains what it does¹:

That means one knob shapes both timing and tone: slowing the repeats degrades them, in the way older digital delays did. Turning the knob while playing produces glissando, pitch-bending effects of the kind associated with analog delays, which De Gregorio describes as psychedelic¹.

Where it sits in Maneco Labs' range

The 4AD is a compact effect from Maneco Labs that blends three things in one digital, slightly lo-fi (12-bit) unit: an up to 6 seconds reverse delay, a pitch shifter, and modulated reverb with tap tempo and a Freeze momentary effect¹.
