The Mission Engineering SP1-L6H is an expression pedal built as the official counterpart to the Line 6 Helix Rack and its Rack Floor Controller. It sweeps effect parameters with your foot, and it adds something most expression pedals do not: an integrated effects toe switch that plugs into the Helix Rack's expression toe switch jack, so you can turn effects on and off and cycle through menu options without leaving your playing position1.
What it does
An expression pedal works like the gas pedal on a car: it does not make sound itself, it sends a control signal that sweeps a parameter, such as delay time, reverb mix or a volume swell. The SP1-L6H is built specifically for that job on the Helix Rack. Mission's product page states that "the linear potentiometer is matched exactly to the specifications of the Line 6 Helix for a precise and natural response"2.
The toe switch is the other half of the design. MusicRadar reported that the "SP1-L6H features integrated effects switching," working through the Helix Rack's expression toe switch jack to turn effects on and off and cycle through menu options1. On a rack unit that sits out of arm's reach, that means one pedal handles both sweeping and toggling.
Construction and design
MusicRadar noted that the SP1-L6H "features the same all-metal construction and non-slip rubber pedal surface as other Mission expression pedals"1, so it shares the build of the wider Mission range rather than being a one-off design. It is one of several pedals Mission has calibrated for specific units, alongside the SP1-L6 Helix, the SP-H9 Eventide and the EP1-L6.
Availability and price
MusicRadar announced the pedal on March 16, 2016, writing that "The Mission SP1-L6H for Line 6 Helix Rack is available now for $139"1. That was the list price at launch.

Questions
Does the SP1-L6H work with anything other than the Helix Rack?
The SP1-L6H was designed as the official expression pedal counterpart to the Line 6 Helix Rack and its Rack Floor Controller. Its linear potentiometer is matched exactly to Line 6 Helix specifications, and its effects switching uses the Helix Rack's expression toe switch jack. Mission Engineering also makes pedals calibrated for other units, such as the SP-H9 for the Eventide H9.
What does the integrated effects switching do?
The SP1-L6H has an integrated effects toe switch that connects to the Helix Rack's expression toe switch jack. It can turn effects on and off and cycle through menu options, so you can reach down and toggle blocks or navigate menus without bending over the rack unit itself.
