The Moriae Lapis Lazuli Delay is a delay pedal from Moriae, built as a simple, rugged three-knob digital delay. Guitar World's reviewer Billy Voight, writing in April 2013, called it "no-nonsense digital delay with plenty of tones in a simple, rugged three-knob box," with a list price of $79.99 at the time1.
The controls and build
The pedal keeps things to three knobs, marked L, F and T for Level, Feedback and Time1.
| Control | Function |
|---|---|
| L (Level) | Sets the delay level1 |
| F (Feedback) | Sets the amount of repeats1 |
| T (Time) | Sets the delay time, maxing out at 590 milliseconds, a little over half a second1 |
The knobs are finished in shiny gold, which the reviewer found easy to see onstage for last-minute tweaks, though he admitted he was not crazy about the looks1. Other features include a bright-red LED power indicator, rubber feet on the bottom, and clearly marked input and output jacks1.
The build is all metal. "Its all-metal hardware means there's no cheap plastic jacks or pots," Voight wrote, adding simply, "The quality is fantastic."1
Size and power
The footprint falls somewhere between a Boss-sized and an MXR-sized box, so it fits comfortably on a crowded board1. Power comes from a 9-volt battery or a 9-volt power supply1.
What reviewers said
Guitar World's review is the published verdict. Voight demonstrated the pedal with a clean Strat, using a long delay to show the layering possibilities, and a really short delay over a dirty lead tone to give the sound more body1.
"The Lapis Lazuli Delay is no-nonsense digital delay with plenty of tones in a simple, rugged three-knob box."
