NativeAudio Wilderness Delay V1.5

Delay

The NativeAudio Wilderness Delay V1.5 is a delay pedal that offers up to 1000ms of delay time. It is an expansion of the original Wilderness Delay, building slightly on what the first version was capable of. Pedal of the Day's review describes it as combining warm, analog delay sounds with pitch-shifting, tremolo and other effects, and calls it "a unique and wonderful pedal overall"1.

What it does

The pedal works in two main modes, Tap and Ramp1.

  • Tap mode: the Control footswitch taps in your delay tempo, which is also affected by the "slow(fast)" knob1.
  • Ramp mode: the second of the pedal's two main operating modes1.

The Control switch can also be operated from an external, normally-open, non-latching switch, connected via the Ext. 1/4-inch jack on the side of the pedal. That is useful if you want to tap tempo or trigger the pedal's switch functions from a remote switch on your board rather than reaching down to the pedal itself1.

Design and reviewer's view

Pedal of the Day's review highlights the pedal's artwork, describing it as "gorgeous," alongside what the reviewer calls "a ton of sonic options"1. On the sound, the reviewer's verdict was that the pedal "combines warm, analog delay sounds with pitch-shifting, tremolo and other effects, to create a unique and wonderful pedal overall sound"1.

Questions

What is the maximum delay time of the Wilderness Delay V1.5?

Pedal of the Day's review states the pedal offers up to 1000ms of delay time, which covers everything from short slapback-style repeats to longer, spacious delay lines. The delay tempo can be set by tapping the Control footswitch in Tap mode, and the tap tempo is also affected by the slow(fast) knob.

Can I use an external switch with the Wilderness Delay V1.5?

Yes. The Control switch can be operated from an external, normally-open, non-latching switch connected to the Ext. 1/4-inch jack on the side of the pedal. That lets you tap in tempo or control the pedal's switch functions without bending down to reach the footswitch on the pedal itself.
