Nux Lacerate FET Boost

The Nux Lacerate FET Boost is a mini booster pedal from NUX, announced in September 2017. Guitar World described it as "a booster pedal designed for boosting up guitar signals in several ways," and it carries an announced price of $54.99.¹

It sits in the boost family: a pedal that lifts the level of the guitar signal, either to push an amp or overdrive harder or to raise volume for a solo. For more on the type, see Boost Pedals.

What it does

The pedal has two boost modes, Clean and Crank.¹

• Clean mode: the pedal boosts the signal and allows an increase in volume "without any sound colorization," in Guitar World's words. That is the classic transparent boost use: more level, same tone.¹
• Crank mode: hold the switch for one second and the gain signal is cranked up. This is the mode for pushing an amp or drive pedal harder rather than simply getting louder.¹

Beyond boosting the clean guitar volume, players can also boost the gain and adjust the signal level separately, keeping the output the same as, higher than, or lower than the input level. That separation of gain and level is what lets the Lacerate serve both jobs, volume lift and gain push, from one small enclosure.¹

Using it

Operation is built around the single switch:

1. Set the pedal for Clean mode to raise volume with the tone unchanged.
2. To use Crank mode, hold the switch for one second and the gain signal will be cranked up.¹
