The OKKO FX DIABLO DUAL is an overdrive / distortion pedal from German maker OKKO FX. OKKO describes it as a "super-dynamic 2-channel overdrive / distortion" that "offers exceptional dynamic qualities and super-clear, amp-like sounds"1. Its headline trait, in the maker's words: "Unlike many other overdrives it works perfectly with clean amps"1.
The Diablo Dual is an upgraded version of OKKO's earlier Diablo overdrive: 15 years after the first Diablo's release, the German manufacturer decided to offer an upgraded version of it with the Diablo Dual2. Its DYN control adjusts the internal voltage from about 6 to 18 volts, so a player can trade headroom for compression, bass tightness and punch1.
A two-channel overdrive built for clean amps
Many overdrives are designed to push an amp that is already breaking up, and can sound thin or harsh into a clean platform. OKKO positions the Diablo Dual the other way: it is voiced to be the whole overdrive sound itself, straight into a clean amp1. Delicious Audio echoed the maker's claim, describing "exceptional dynamic qualities and super-clear, amp-like sounds" and that it "works perfectly with clean amps"2.
The two channels are the practical difference from the original Diablo. As De Gregorio put it2:
"the Diablo Dual, instead, gives you two overdrives with separate Drive and Level knobs"2
Delicious Audio, 20232
The original Diablo, by contrast, was described by Guitar FX Layouts in 2012 as "a versatile low to medium gain overdrive with an exceptionally dynamic response" that "preserves the character of your instruments and is very sensitive to your playing technique"3. The Dual keeps that dynamic character but doubles the drive voices.
The controls: DYN, FEED, BODY, MIDS and INPUT
Each channel has its own Gain and Level knobs. The remaining controls are shared between the channels and shape how the pedal reacts to your guitar and amp1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gain / Level (per channel) | Sets the drive amount and output volume of each channel independently1 |
| DYN | Adjusts the internal voltage from about 6 to 18 volts; more headroom means less compression, tighter bass and more punch1 |
| FEED | Controls low frequencies in the input signal, allowing tight and transparent sounds even with the fattest sounding neck pickups1 |
| BODY | Adds bass and low mids for a fat sound and a different gain structure1 |
| MIDS | Changes frequencies in the tone control; OKKO calls it perfect for matching pedal and amp tone1 |
| INPUT | 3-position mini-switch (normal / lowgain / top boost) that sets the sensitivity of the input gain stage for best interaction with your guitars1 |
The DYN control is the most unusual of these. Instead of shaping an EQ band, it changes the pedal's internal operating voltage across roughly a 6 to 18 volt range1. Delicious Audio explained the effect: "Increasing the headroom results in less compression, tighter bass and more punch"2. Run low, the pedal compresses more and feels spongier; run high, it opens up and tightens.
FEED works at the input rather than the output, trimming or feeding bass before the gain stages. On the original Diablo, Guitar FX Layouts noted the same idea: FEED "affects the amount of bass in the input signal," letting you make a fat neck humbucker sound clear or beef up weak pickups3. BODY on the Dual differs from the older Diablo and the GH model; on the original, BODY "takes effect on mids and compression"3, while on the Dual it "adds bass and low mids for a fat sound and different gain structure"1.
Switching channels while playing
Channel switching is handled by the left footswitch2. OKKO states that "you can change during playing or pre-select the channels when in bypass mode"1, so you can queue up the other channel silently and have it ready the moment you engage the pedal.
How it differs from the earlier Diablo and Diablo GH
The Diablo line has three main versions:
- Diablo (original): the earlier single-channel Diablo. The Dual's BODY control is a bit different from the older Diablo, and also from the GH model1.
- Diablo GH: an earlier related version in the same family, likewise with a BODY control that differs from the Dual's1.
- Diablo Dual: the current version, offering exceptional dynamic qualities and super-clear, amp-like sounds in the maker's words1.
There is also the Dirty Diablo Dual, a variation of the classic Diablo available in Raw Black and Raw White finishes. OKKO says it "has been tweaked for an earlier, slightly grittier breakup, more saturation and a fatter, wider sound"4.
OKKO also makes the Twinsonic V2, a dual stacking overdrive, and The Dynamist.

Questions
What does the DYN knob do on the Okko Diablo?
DYN adjusts the pedal's internal voltage from about 6 to 18 volts. Raising it increases headroom, which OKKO says gives less compression, tighter bass and more punch. Lower settings push the pedal harder for a more compressed, saturated feel.
Can you switch channels on the Diablo Dual while playing?
Yes. Each channel is adjustable in Gain and Level, and you can change channels during playing or pre-select a channel while the pedal is in bypass mode, so the next engagement comes up on the channel you chose.
What is the Okko Dirty Diablo Dual?
The Dirty Diablo Dual is a variation of the classic Diablo, available in Raw Black and Raw White finishes. OKKO says it has been tweaked for an earlier, slightly grittier breakup, more saturation and a fatter, wider sound than the standard Diablo Dual.
How much is the Okko Diablo Dual?
OKKO lists the Diablo Dual at €209.24 excluding shipping, as of October 2026. The Dirty Diablo Dual versions are listed at €192.44. Prices are in euros on the maker's German site.
