The Red Witch Invidium is an all-analog, FET-based phaser pedal from Red Witch Pedals, designed by Ben Fulton and made in New Zealand1. It arrived in April 2025 as part of the company's five-pedal Apothecary series, and Red Witch presents it as the successor, in the maker's words, to the long out of production Moon Phaser12.
What sets it apart from a standard four-stage phaser is its mode set: two differently voiced phase settings plus a tremophase setting, selected by a toggle. Tremophase is the feature the Moon Phaser was known for, and it carries over here. Red Witch describes the great phase tones of the world with words like "liquid" and "swirly", and says the Invidium offers a plethora of those flavors1.
Controls and modes
The Invidium keeps its control surface small, in keeping with the compact Apothecary format. Guitar Pedal X's launch coverage listed the control set as Mode (Phase 1 / Phase 2 / TremoPhase), Cosmos (Shimmery to Throbby), Regen, and the infinity toggle3.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mode toggle | Selects between two differently voiced phase settings and one tremophase setting1 |
| Cosmos | Chooses how shimmery or how throbby the phasing or tremophasing is1 |
| Regen | Mixes some of the phased signal back into the pedal's input for more pronounced phasing and resonance1 |
| Infinity (∞) toggle | Engages an expanded regeneration mode1 |
The Regen and infinity controls work together. The Regen knob sets how much of the phased signal feeds back into the input; flipping the ∞ toggle on expands and intensifies that regeneration further, which Guitar Pedal X described as letting you push the degree of regeneration beyond what the knob alone gives you3.
What is tremophase?
Tremophase is the mode the original Moon Phaser was known for, and it is the Invidium's most distinctive feature. In Red Witch's own explanation214:
"Simply put, the phase shift pulses at the same time as the volume shift of the tremolo."1
In other words, the pedal combines amplitude modulation with phase shifting in one motion, rather than running a tremolo and a phaser as separate layers. MusicRadar's coverage of the Apothecary launch described it the same way, calling tremophase the mode "which combines the amplitude modulation with the phase-shifting"2.
The idea goes back to the Moon Phaser line. Reviewing the Deluxe Moon Phaser for Guitar.com, Gary Walker found the tremophase settings particularly worthwhile152:
"the tremophases are really interesting, emulating a Uni-Vibe with the trajectory wound back"6
That comparison gives a player a practical reference: something in the neighborhood of a Uni-Vibe's motion, with the trajectory wound back6.
Successor to the Moon Phaser
Red Witch is direct about the Invidium's lineage. On the Apothecary series page, the maker states251:
"Invidium is the natural successor to our beloved Moon Phaser."5
Ben Fulton, the designer, put it in personal terms on the product page: he knew he had to include a successor to what he calls an iconic pedal in the Apothecary series1. MusicRadar's Jonathan Horsley called the Invidium "the successor, spiritual, familial and otherwise, to the Moon Phaser", noting the older pedal has long been out of production2.
The circuit family carries over too. Where the Moon Phaser was based around a FET-driven circuit offering 6-stage phase-shifting, per Horsley's MusicRadar review of the later SOLARIA, the Invidium is likewise a FET-driven analog phaser7. Red Witch later took a different direction with the OTA-driven, 8-stage SOLARIA, so players comparing Red Witch phasers have two distinct circuit lines to choose between.
The Moon Phaser story did not quite end with the Invidium's arrival. Red Witch also ran a limited reissue of the Deluxe Moon Phaser, available from 22 May 2025, with stereo out that splits wet and dry4. The Deluxe Moon Phaser product page shows the pedal sold out8.
The Invidium has no battery option. It requires a 9V regulated DC supply with a 2.1mm barrel plug, tip negative1. Players who run pedals on batteries should plan for a power supply.
Build, availability and price
The Invidium is housed in a diecast enclosure with machined aluminum knobs unique to the Apothecary series, and an LED color matched to the pedal's color scheme1. It uses hand-wired Neutrik jack sockets, which Red Witch says ensure a lifetime of trouble-free connection1. The pedal carries a lifetime warranty on its electronics and mechanisms for the registered owner1.
The Invidium Phaser is listed at 269 USD and, at the time of writing, is in stock and ships today1. It is an all analog, FET based phaser built into a compact enclosure measuring 124mm x 55mm x 67mm (4.88in x 2.16in x 2.63in) and weighing 335.16 grams (11.81oz), with hand-wired Neutrik jack sockets and a lifetime warranty on the electronics and mechanisms for the registered owner1.
As of April 2025, the Invidium was in stock and shipping the same day at 269 USD, available exclusively from Red Witch or Sweetwater1. Red Witch also maintains a US warehouse that ships orders9.
