The Shralp is a gated fuzz pedal from Shoneswood Effects, a small builder that hand-builds its stompboxes. It carries three controls, Volume, Gate and Tone, and is inspired by vintage gated fuzz designs. Delicious Audio notes it can also deliver tones closer to an overdrive at lower gain levels, so it is not limited to full-on fuzz sounds1.

What it does

As a gated fuzz, the Shralp sits in the family of fuzzes that stop a note abruptly rather than letting it decay naturally, which is where the Gate control comes in. The Tone control shapes the top end, and Volume sets the output level1.

At lower gain settings, the pedal's character moves toward overdrive territory, which widens its range on a board: it can cover milder breakup as well as the chopped, gated fuzz sounds it is built around1.

The skateboard enclosures

What sets the Shralp apart visually is its housing. Shoneswood builds each pedal in a unique enclosure made out of repurposed old skateboards, and no two are alike1.

"Each one is 100% original wear from use and thus each one is a unique art piece that can never be replicated, even by me"
Delicious Audio, speaking for Shoneswood1

For a player, that means the pedal on your board is a one-off: the wear and graphics come from the board's previous life, not from a production line1.

Shoneswood also makes the SHONESWOOD Fuzz + Drive.
