The SHONESWOOD Fuzz + Drive is a two-channel dirt box from Canadian builder Shoneswood that puts a fuzz and an overdrive side by side in one enclosure. The left channel is a Fuzz Face style fuzz circuit with a starve knob, a control that lets you lean on the voltage reaching the fuzz to change its character. The right channel is an overdrive built in collaboration with Pine Box. The pedal was highlighted on the JHS Show in its March 16, 2022 episode1.
What it does
The pedal splits two classic dirt voicings across two channels. On the left, the Fuzz Face style circuit is the familiar vintage fuzz topology, and the starve knob on that side works by restricting the voltage the fuzz receives, which players use to thin out and degrade the fuzz in a controllable way. On the right, the overdrive channel, developed with Pine Box, covers the driven side of the pedal1.
If you are comparing fuzzes, the Fuzz Pedals type page covers the wider field, and the overdrive side sits within Overdrive Pedals. Shoneswood's other documented pedal, the Shoneswood Effects Shralp Gated Fuzz, is a hand-built gated fuzz in a repurposed skateboard enclosure, which gives a sense of the builder's approach.
Availability
Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio, writing after the JHS Show appearance, noted that the pedal "looks like it's a unique custom unit"1. That means it is not a standard production pedal with a list price or regular availability, and the usual specifications a player would check, such as power requirements and bypass type, are not documented for it.
