The Spaceman Effects Meridian is an all-analog modulation pedal built around a 1024-stage bucket brigade delay line, with a delay range of 0.8ms to 50ms1. Spaceman calls it a "versatile, analog modulation juggernaut": not just a chorus pedal, but also a flanger, vibrato, double-tracker, rotary speaker emulator and phaser, with comb filtering and double-tracking available when the modulation is switched off1. Delicious Audio described it as an analog short delay circuit showcasing the MN3007 bucket brigade chip, and quoted the builder calling it their most flexible and sophisticated modulation effect to date2.
The pedal is hand-wired and built in Portland, Oregon, in a cast-aluminum enclosure with a durable, engraved vinyl faceplate and a jewel indicator light1. As of October 2026 the maker's page lists it as sold out1.
How it works: one delay line, many effects
Bucket brigade delay (BBD) chips pass your signal along a chain of capacitors a step at a time, which delays it slightly. Modulating that delay time with an LFO is what creates chorus, flanger and vibrato sounds: short delay times with feedback give flanging and phasing, longer times give chorus and pitch-shifting vibrato. The Meridian's 0.8ms to 50ms range spans that whole territory, and Delicious Audio notes it can produce classic chorus tones, true pitch-shifting vibrato, wispy phasing and more from the same circuit2.
The LFO offers three waveshapes: Sine, Triangle and Flux2. Flux is the unusual one.
"The Flux wave is a wobbly, uneven derivation of the triangle wave with unpredictable skips and jumps."
Delicious Audio adds that when used subtly, the Flux shape imparts a slithering, "alive" feeling2.
The controls
The Meridian carries external LEVEL, MIX, RATE, WIDTH, TIME and REGEN controls, plus an internal switch for expression control. Here is what each does, from the maker's and press descriptions12:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| LEVEL | Sets the desired output volume1 |
| MIX | Sweeps from full dry to full wet, controlling effect intensity1 |
| RATE | Sets LFO speed; with WIDTH at minimum, directly sweeps the delay line1 |
| WIDTH | Sets modulation depth; at minimum the LFO stops1 |
| TIME | Sets delay time; with WIDTH at minimum, sweeps the delay line directly1 |
| REGEN | Adds negative feedback around the delay line for depth and dimension12 |
Premier Guitar's reviewer noted that mix, volume, rate and width are pretty standard controls, but that the volume control adds up to 6 dB of boost to overcome perceived volume loss3.
Two behaviors are worth knowing as a player:
- WIDTH at minimum stops the LFO. RATE and TIME then directly sweep the delay line, so you can dial in static comb filtering, double-tracking or pseudo slapback sounds manually1. Pedal of the Day describes this the same way: with Width at minimum the LFO is bypassed and the delay line is swept directly4.
- REGEN is essential for flanger and phaser sounds. It introduces negative feedback around the delay line, producing the metallic clank of comb filtering at short delay times and a drippy, rhythmic grind at longer delay times12.
Expression and CV control
The EXP jack accepts both expression pedals and control voltage, and an internal slide switch selects whether the jack controls the RATE or WIDTH parameter14. The jack is a 0-5V DC TRS type with over-voltage and reverse-voltage protection1. Delicious Audio also lists CV/EXP options for controlling rate, width or delay time2.
Power and specifications
The Meridian runs on 9V DC, negative center, through a 2.1mm jack, drawing 32mA in bypass and 58mA engaged1. Input resistance is 1 meg ohm1.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Width | 3.68 inches / 93.5 mm1 |
| Depth | 4.73 inches / 120 mm1 |
| Height | 2.25 inches / 57 mm1 |
| Weight | 14.6 ounces1 |
The relay-based true-bypass switching draws 32mA even when the pedal is off, so plan power supply headroom accordingly if you run several pedals on one supply1.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day reviewed the Meridian in June 2023 and found it blends aspects of chorus, vibrato, flanger, filter and pitch-shifting into one pedal4:
"Constantly wowing us around every turn, this beauty from Spaceman Effects is truly inspiring, and a most welcomed addition to their stellar, out-of-this-world lineup."
Premier Guitar's September 2023 review noted that Spaceman Effects has always maintained high standards for construction quality, inside and out3. Spaceman itself pitches the Meridian at players tired of noisy, brittle modulation pedals, promising a clear and articulate tone with the analog warmth BBDs are known for1.

Questions
What effects can the Spaceman Meridian make?
The Meridian produces analog chorus, flanger, vibrato, phaser, rotary speaker emulation, comb filtering and double-tracking sounds. With the WIDTH control at minimum the LFO stops, and the RATE and TIME controls sweep the delay line directly for static comb filtering or pseudo slapback double-tracking effects.
Is the Spaceman Meridian all analog?
Yes. Spaceman Effects describes the Meridian as having an all analog signal path, built around a high headroom MN3007 bucket brigade delay IC with a delay range of 0.8ms to 50ms.
Is the Spaceman Meridian true bypass?
Yes. The Meridian uses true-bypass relay switching with a soft-touch footswitch, so the signal passes untouched when the pedal is off.
Where is the Spaceman Meridian made?
The Meridian is hand-wired and built in Portland, Oregon by Spaceman Effects, in a cast-aluminum enclosure with an engraved vinyl faceplate and a jewel indicator light.
What is the Flux waveshape on the Meridian?
Flux is one of three LFO waveshapes, alongside Sine and Triangle. Spaceman describes it as a wobbly, uneven derivation of the triangle wave with unpredictable skips and jumps, which Delicious Audio says imparts a slithering, alive feeling when used subtly.
Can the Meridian be controlled with an expression pedal?
Yes. The EXP jack accepts expression and CV control, and an internal slide switch selects whether the jack controls the RATE or WIDTH parameter. The jack is a 0-5V DC TRS jack with over and reverse voltage protection.
