The Spritz is a compressor pedal line from Supercool Pedals, built around an OTA compression circuit. The original Spritz, released in 2022, was a deliberately simple pedal with two knobs. In 2026 the builder, Jamie Muir, overhauled that design and released the Spritz! Saturator, which keeps the compression side and adds a switchable JFET "tube simulation" circuit for saturation and overdrive12.
What it does
The compression side uses SUSTAIN and LEVEL controls, which Premier Guitar's press release describes as "simple but diverse compression controls" delivering "a wonderfully clean and easy-to-dial-in compressor that delivers crisp and juicy saturation with improved bass response"1. The maker also lists a full and focused low-end response as a feature1.
The Saturator's controls break down like this:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| SUSTAIN | Compression amount, in the style of the original Spritz1 |
| LEVEL | Output level1 |
| Tube button | Engages the JFET tube simulation circuit, mounted as a small button on top of the pedal face3 |
| Tube dial | Mini knob set between the two main compression knobs, tweaking the tube simulation3 |
The Saturator's addition is the tube simulation circuit: a JFET design engaged by the small button and tweaked with the mini knob3. Pedal of the Day explains what that circuit does:
"The 'Tube' button adds a JFET boost circuit (chosen for its tubelike breakup) post-compression, allowing you to achieve"
Because the JFET stage sits after the compressor, it can be used purely as a boost on top of the compression, or pushed into overdrive territory that overlaps with overdrive pedals2.
From one knob to four
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson traced the change from the earlier Spritz! Compressor to the Saturator43:
"So one control becomes 4, as the Spritz! pedal expands from Mini to Compact Format."
The two versions line up like this:
| Spritz! Compressor (2022) | Spritz! Saturator (2026) | |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit | OTA compression12 | OTA compression plus JFET tube simulation12 |
| Controls | One knob4 | SUSTAIN, LEVEL, tube button, tube dial1 |
| Format | Mini4 | Compact4 |
| Drive | None | Switchable JFET boost/saturation stage2 |
The pedal moved from a single knob to four controls and grew in physical size to match4. Karlsson's verdict on the result: "The new pedal is both handsome and really potent - with still a very simple control topology. A fantastic stacking option" and, in his view, great for stand-alone duties as well4.
What reviewers said
Premier Guitar's reviewer came away favorably:
"Supercool's updated Spritz! is an instantly useful piece of kit for any rig or instrument"
The review found that it covers a broad range of compression applications and called it a competitive option overall3.
Background
The Spritz! Saturator follows the Caffeine Boost and the original Spritz as Supercool's third pedal with art inspired by an Italian beverage3. As of its May 2026 release it was available with worldwide shipping through SupercoolPedals.com and in select independent retailers1. For how a compressor like this sits on a board, see Compressor Pedals.
