The TC Electronic T2 is a reverb pedal built around 10 reverb modes designed by TC together with ProGuitarShop, the retailer that also worked with TC on the original Trinity Reverb. MusicRadar describes the T2 as the sequel to that pedal, and it carries the two ethereal reverbs from the Trinity alongside eight new sounds123.
What it does
The T2's 10 modes split into two groups: eight new reverb sounds, plus the two ethereal reverbs that first appeared on the Trinity Reverb. Premier Guitar's coverage of the announcement noted those two carried-over sounds were what "made the original Trinity Reverb such a hit"34.
Guitar Interactive Magazine's Jonathan Graham described the pedal's character in the announcement: "With T2 you get decay for days combined with beautiful swirls of modulation, making it the perfect addition to every ambient rig"2.
Where it came from
TC Electronic announced the T2 in September 2014, alongside the Alter Ego V2 Vintage Echo. At launch, the maker said the T2 would be available exclusively at ProGuitarShop in North America2.
The T2 was a ProGuitarShop exclusive in North America when it was released in 2014, which is worth knowing if you are hunting one secondhand.
If you are comparing it within TC's reverb range, the Hall of Fame 2, the Hall Of Fame 2 X4 and the Skysurfer are the company's other reverb pedals covered on this site, and the full list sits on the Reverb Pedals page.
