The Tech 21 TRI-O.D. is a three-channel tube amp character pedal with a built-in Speaker Simulator and Master Output Section. Tech 21 describes it as an overdrive with prevoiced tube amp sounds, and notes that you can also record direct with each of those sounds. The pedal can be used with any amp or combo, or to drive a power amp and guitar speaker cabinets1.
Controls and channel switching
Each of the three channels is independent and carries its own Drive and Level controls, which Tech 21 says allows you to set them relative to each other. The Master Output Section's Volume control can then be set for the particular occasion, so the overall level is separate from the individual channel settings1.

Switching is handled by a custom footswitch actuator, which Tech 21 says provides a smooth transition between channels for instantaneous switching. The maker's page describes the layout as never more than two stomps away from the sound you want1.
Turning channels off
Each channel can be turned off, so you can designate how many you want to switch between: all 3, 2, just 1, or even none. With all three channels off, the pedal can be used as a Speaker Simulator and Master Output Section only, for recording direct with another pre-amp, fuzz box, or effect unit1.

Power
The TRI-O.D. is operable with an optional DC power supply, Tech 21 Model #DC2, or a 9V alkaline battery, which is not included1.

The pedal measures 4.5" x 3.5" x 1.5" and weighs 14 oz.1.
