Univox Micro Fazer

Phaser

The Univox Micro Fazer is a phaser pedal from Univox, the company that also brought the Uni-Vibe to North American players in the late 1960s. It belongs to the phaser family of effects, which shift a copy of the guitar signal out of phase and blend it back to create the familiar sweeping, whooshing movement.

Documented information about the Micro Fazer itself is scarce. The most detailed public record of the circuit is a DIY stripboard (vero) layout published on the Guitar FX Layouts blog on 16 May 2014, which tags the pedal as a phaser1. The layout's author noted that he could find no marketing material for the pedal, writing: "I can't find any information on this one in terms of marketing spiel, but it should be obvious what it's based on :o)"1. In other words, the circuit's design lineage is apparent to anyone who reads the layout, but the author stopped short of naming it.

The stripboard layout for the Micro Fazer is unverified: as of January 2021, the comments on the layout included a report of "I built it and get sound but no effect", and no confirmed successful build was recorded there1. Anyone attempting the layout should treat it as unproven.

Because the record is thin, there are no verified specifications to report for the original pedal: no published control list, power requirements, dimensions or list price. What a player can establish is the effect type, the maker, and the existence of the hobbyist layout that keeps the circuit reachable for DIY builders1.
