The Valeton GP-200JR is a compact multi-effects pedal with a built-in expression pedal and an audio interface function, made by Valeton. It is the smaller sibling of the GP-200: Valeton says it carries "the GP-200's same effects library" and runs "the same HD modeling technology and platform used on the GP-200," while optimizing "the functions and layout according to the actual needs of musicians during live performances."1

Jacks and connections

The GP-200JR covers the usual live and recording needs on its panels. Valeton lists the following connections on the product page1:

ConnectionDetail
Instrument input1/4" TS instrument input
Aux inputStereo 1/8" aux input, transfers plugged-in audio to the USB connection
Outputs2 unbalanced 1/4" TS outputs
Outputs2 balanced XLR outputs
Expression/footswitch1/4" TRS EXP/FS jack
USBAudio interface function

The XLR outputs and the aux-to-USB path are what make it a one-box stage and recording rig: balanced outputs feed a mixer or interface directly, and the aux input sends whatever is plugged into it out over USB alongside your guitar signal.1

The controls

The front panel is built around a 4.3-inch TFT LCD that Valeton says "presents an intuitive, user-friendly multi-language UI," three customizable LED footswitches with three footswitch templates for different live situations, and the built-in expression pedal, which Valeton says can control up to three effect parameters at once.1

The GP-200's controls are built to follow the patch: Valeton says that "up to 25 knobs and buttons will accordingly follow their own commands to ensure details are delivered," so the physical controls take on the assignments of whichever patch you have called up.12

GP-200JR vs the GP-200

The JR shares its sound engine with the GP-200: Valeton says "the same HD modeling technology and platform used on the GP-200 delivers the pure, organic tones."21 The full-size GP-200 goes further on hardware control, with Valeton saying "up to 25 knobs and buttons will accordingly follow their own commands to ensure details are delivered" on that unit,32 and it carries a large library of rhythm accompaniments, with "100 high-quality Drum Machines."1

The GP-200JR trades that expanded panel for a smaller footprint, three footswitches instead of a larger switch array, and a built-in expression pedal, which is the layout Valeton describes as suited to live performance.1

Firmware and documentation

Valeton supports the GP-200JR with ongoing firmware and downloadable manuals:

Questions

How many presets does the Valeton GP-200JR have?

The GP-200JR has 255 patch slots, split into 99 factory patches and 156 user patches. That gives you room to keep the factory material for reference and still build a large library of your own sounds, organized however you like across the three footswitches and the on-screen patch list.

Does the GP-200JR have a built-in expression pedal?

Yes. The GP-200JR is a multi-effects pedal with a built-in expression pedal, and Valeton's product page describes that pedal as able to control up to three effect parameters at once. There is also a 1/4-inch TRS jack for connecting an external expression pedal or footswitch if you want control from a second position.

Does the GP-200JR work as an audio interface?

Yes. Valeton lists the GP-200JR as including an audio interface function over USB. The unit also has a stereo 1/8-inch aux input that transfers plugged-in audio signals to the USB connection, so you can record your guitar and feed backing tracks or other material into your computer through the same unit.

What power supply does the GP-200JR use?

The GP-200JR runs on a DC 9V power supply, and Valeton includes one in the box. There is no battery option listed, so plan on using the supplied adapter or an equivalent 9V DC supply with enough current for the unit.

What is the difference between the GP-200JR and the GP-200?

The GP-200JR is a compact version of the GP-200. Valeton says it carries the GP-200's same effects library and the same HD modeling technology and platform, but optimizes the functions and layout for live performance needs in a smaller chassis with three footswitches and a built-in expression pedal.

What is the latest GP-200JR firmware version?

The latest GP-200JR firmware listed by Valeton is V1.6.0, compatible with software v1.6.0. The download file was updated on 06-02-2026 and is 3.20 MB in size.
