The Voodoo Lab Amp Selector is a stand-alone tool for switching a guitar into multiple amplifiers. Voodoo Lab says it lets you use up to four amps simultaneously without added hum or loss of tone, and that you can switch between or layer amps in any combination1. It sits in the wider family of switching pedals, built for players whose rigs outgrow a single amp.
The original Amp Selector is discontinued, but the idea lives on in two current Voodoo Lab units: the Amp Selector ABY with two isolated outputs and the Amp Selector PRO with four23. This page covers the original first, then how the current models differ.
What it does
The core job is routing one guitar to several amps and letting you combine them. Voodoo Lab describes the unit as the ultimate stand-alone tool for switching your guitar into multiple amplifiers, with silent switching and no added hum or tone loss when amps are layered1.
"The switching is absolutely silent with no clicks or pops."

Beyond the four amp outputs, the Amp Selector features a buffered tuner or split output for slaving additional devices without loading down your pickups or muddying your tone1. That gives you a constant tuner feed without interrupting the signal to the amps.
Power and connections
The original runs on a 9V power supply with a standard Boss type connector, or on an internal battery, drawing 10 to 15 mA4. It is about a foot wide and 4" deep, so it is a wide box rather than a compact stompbox4.
A second input can be used for a stereo signal path, or to switch two instruments into different pairs of amplifiers1. That second use case is worth noting: two players (or two instruments) can each be routed to their own pair of amps through one box.
The original Amp Selector is discontinued1. The current models, the ABY and the PRO, power from a 9V DC output rather than a battery, and the ABY's supply is not included23.
The current models: ABY and PRO
Voodoo Lab now splits the concept into two units, both listed as Isolated Output Switch/Blend products23.
| Amp Selector ABY | Amp Selector PRO | |
|---|---|---|
| Outputs | Two transformer-isolated outputs3 | Four isolated outputs2 |
| Level controls | Independent per output3 | Independent per output2 |
| Ground lifts | Yes, per output3 | Yes, per output2 |
| Modes | A/B/Y, Direct Access, Exclusive3 | Not stated |
| Transformers | Transformer-isolated outputs3 | Four custom nickel-core transformers, high-inductance permalloy design2 |
| Buffer | Texas Instruments LME49720 op-amp3 | Texas Instruments LME49720 op-amp2 |
| Power | 9V DC, supply not included3 | Any isolated 9V DC output2 |
| Warranty | 5-year4 | Not stated |
The ABY offers three modes: A/B/Y for classic switch and blend operation, Direct Access for independent on/off control of each output, and Exclusive mode3. Voodoo Lab says its two transformer-isolated outputs solve the hum and tone problems common to multi-amp rigs3.
The PRO steps up to four isolated outputs, each with its own level control and ground lift. Voodoo Lab says the independent ground lift switches on each output let you instantly kill the gnarly noise that is common with multi-amp setups2. Its four custom nickel-core transformers use a high-inductance permalloy design, which Voodoo Lab credits with exceptional frequency response and clarity2.
Both current units share a studio-quality buffer built around the Texas Instruments LME49720, an audio op-amp Voodoo Lab describes as elite23. Both also use what Voodoo Lab calls Quiet Switching, and the PRO's version uses proprietary JFET and zero-crossing technology for silent operation23.

Questions
Can the Voodoo Lab Amp Selector run four amps at once?
Yes. Voodoo Lab says the original Amp Selector lets you use up to four amps simultaneously without added hum or loss of tone, and you can switch between or layer them in any combination. The current Amp Selector PRO also has four isolated outputs, while the ABY covers two amps.
Does the Voodoo Lab Amp Selector make clicks or pops when switching?
No. Voodoo Lab describes the original's switching as absolutely silent with no clicks or pops. The current PRO model uses what Voodoo Lab calls Quiet Switching, proprietary JFET and zero-crossing technology, for silent operation.
Does the Voodoo Lab Amp Selector take a battery?
The original could run on an internal battery as well as a 9V power supply with a standard Boss type connector, drawing 10 to 15 mA. The current ABY and PRO models power from a 9V DC output instead, and the ABY's power supply is not included.
What is the difference between the Amp Selector ABY and the Amp Selector PRO?
The ABY has two transformer-isolated outputs; the PRO has four, each with its own level control and ground lift. Both are isolated output switch/blend units with a buffer built around the Texas Instruments LME49720 op-amp, and both carry a 5-year warranty.
Is the Voodoo Lab Amp Selector discontinued?
Yes, the original four-output Amp Selector is discontinued.
Does the Amp Selector have ground lift switches?
The Amp Selector PRO has independent ground lift switches on each of its four outputs, which Voodoo Lab says instantly kill the noise common with multi-amp setups. The ABY also has ground lifts on its two outputs.
