The Zoom B1Xon is a bass multi-effects pedal with a built-in expression pedal, made by Zoom. It puts a full bass rig's worth of processing in one floor unit: dozens of DSP effects and amp models, effects chaining, an onboard chromatic tuner, rhythm patterns and looping1.
Zoom lists the B1Xon as discontinued1.
What it does
The B1Xon is a multi-effects pedal for bass players. Zoom describes it as offering "dozens of DSP effects and amp models, plus effects chaining, onboard chromatic tuner, rhythm patterns, looping"1. Effects chaining means you can string effects together into patches rather than switching individual pedals, and the amp models let you build a complete bass sound in the one unit.
The built-in expression pedal is the feature that separates the B1Xon from pedal-only multi-effects units. Zoom says it can be used for gain drive or volume, to add wah or filtering, or to affect delay time or modulation speed2. That covers the main jobs a bass player would want a foot controller for: swelling volume, sweeping a wah or filter effect, and changing delay or modulation settings in real time.
The onboard chromatic tuner, rhythm patterns and looper round out the unit as a practice tool as well as a live one1. The rhythm patterns give you a drum track to play against, and the looper lets you layer bass parts on the spot.
Zoom's current bass multi-effects line includes the Zoom B3n, the Zoom B6 and the Zoom B2 FOUR, which carry on where the discontinued B1Xon left off1.
