tagboard

A tagboard is a rigid board with terminals or grommets through which components can be point-to-point wired, used as an alternative to a printed circuit board in pedal construction.1 In a rig context, it appears in both vintage-style builds and DIY projects: pedals such as the Terry Audio White Rabbit have no circuit board, with components wired via grommets inserted in heavy tagboard,1 and the Toetags Supa Fuzz is hand wired on phenolic tagboard from the UK.2 Historic fuzz designs like the Buzzaround were constructed on tagboard,3 and the Arcane Analog Buzzsaw reproduces that approach with germanium transistors hand-wired on a tagboard like the original.4 The term also names a format of DIY build documents: sites such as tagboardeffects publish vero (stripboard) and tagboard layouts for many classic and popular guitar and bass effects.5
