TC Electronic Relaunches the Stereo Chorus Flanger Leave a comment

TC Electronic has brought back its first-ever effects pedal, the 1976 Stereo Chorus Flanger.

Designed in the 70s as a lower-noise alternative to other stompboxes, the reissue introduces a couple of minor edits. A new, higher-headroom opamp drives the preamp stage and features a better bass response.

Also new to the Stereo Chorus Flanger is a modern 9V DC jack instead of the original’s proprietary power requirements. You’ll also get a larger power/LFO LED.

Explaining the rationale behind the minor updates, TC Electronic Product Manager Paul Robert Scott said:

“In one way it was an easy task, as there was actually very little to improve,” adding that “in reality, of course, it was also a challenge. It was a fine balance between paying tribute and staying true while upgrading specific aspects where new technologies made it possible to do so.”

In terms of controls, the Stereo Chorus Flanger consists of Speed, Width, Intensity, and Input Gain dials, along with a three-way mode switch for choosing between Chorus, Flanger, and Pitch Modulation modes.

Other handy features include a stereo pair of output jacks and a mono input jack.
