AMT Bricks X-Lead

The AMT Bricks X-Lead is a preamp pedal made by AMT Electronics, a maker known for guitar preamps and amp-in-a-box designs. It belongs to the AMT BRICKS preamps family, a series of compact preamp pedals that can be combined on a pedalboard, and it sits alongside lead-voiced siblings such as the AMT Bricks P-Lead, AMT Bricks M-Lead, AMT Bricks B-Lead and AMT Bricks D-Lead. Like the rest of the Bricks range, it is designed to take the place of an amplifier's front end in a rig built around preamp pedals.¹

What it does

The X-Lead is a lead-voiced preamp: it shapes the gain and tone stage that, in a traditional amp, would come before the power section. AMT's own material for the Bricks X-Lead preamps lists a Noise Gate as a global setting, meaning the gate is applied across the pedal's sound rather than tied to a single mode.¹

How it fits into a Bricks rig

The Bricks series is built around the idea of a modular pedalboard, and the X-Lead carries the hardware to match. Its manual describes a connector jack for working as part of the AMT Bricks pedalboard, so the pedal can be linked into a Bricks-based system rather than standing alone.²

Where it sits in the AMT range

AMT Electronics offers a wide run of preamp pedals beyond the Bricks line, including the AMT SS-20, AMT SS-11A, AMT SS-11B, the AMT Legend 2 Series P2 Preamp Pedal and the AMT P1.
