The AMT Pangaea CP-100FX-S is a stereo pedal preamp with built-in effects and an IR cabinet simulator, made by AMT Electronics as part of the Pangaea CP-100 series12. Released in 2017, it is the stereo version of the Pangaea CP-100FX, which appeared in 201623. The idea is a single floor unit that carries an analog preamp, digital power amp modeling, a speaker simulator that loads impulse responses, and a set of effects, all saved into presets1.
AMT describes the unit as more than a simple impulse cabinet emulator combined with an effects processor, saying it can qualitatively emulate the sound of any guitar cabinet by loading the corresponding impulse responses (IRs) of guitar cabinets4.
What it does
The signal chain combines an analog front end with digital processing. The analog preamp offers Clean, Low gain and High gain modes, followed by a Power Amp block with nine types1. The IR cabsim uses one IR for both the left and right channels per preset1. Around those blocks sit a global Noise Gate, a Compressor, a parametric Pre/Post EQ, Hi/Low pass filters with Presence, and a Delay or Reverb effect per preset1. Up to 10 effects run concurrently4.
| Block | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Analog preamp | Clean, Low gain or High gain modes1 |
| Power Amp | 9 types1 |
| IR cabsim | 1 IR shared by both L/R channels per preset1 |
| EQ | Parametric Pre/Post EQ, Hi/Low pass filters, Presence1 |
| Effects | Delay or Reverb per preset, Compressor, Noise Gate (global)1 |
| RF control | Resonance Filter4 |
Powering it
The CP-100FX-S runs on 12V DC, center negative, drawing 230mA, supplied by an AMT AC adapter with a 100 to 265VAC, 50 to 60 Hz mains input4.
At 230mA on 12V DC, this is not a battery pedal, and it needs a supply that can deliver that current, not a low current daisy chain tap.
How it differs from the CP-100FX
The CP-100FX-S is the stereo input, stereo output version; the CP-100FX is mono input, stereo output4. The differences AMT lists are:
- The S version has no THRU output4
- The S version has no attenuator: it is designed to work with your pedalboard devices, and AMT says you cannot connect it directly to a power amplifier, a job the CP-100FX handles4
- In place of the THRU output there is an additional R (right channel) input, which makes the full stereo path possible when external stereo devices are connected4
Mono in, stereo out
You do not need a stereo source to use it. When the signal is connected only to the L input, the device operates in mono input, stereo output mode4. A mono guitar feed can therefore still drive both output channels, with the stereo path available when you add the R input.
Outputs and connections
The analog outputs are XLR/TRS4, which suits feeding a mixer or interface directly. Since the unit has no attenuator, it is aimed at players running it with pedals into a full range or recorded destination rather than straight into a power amp4.

Questions
Does the AMT Pangaea CP-100FX-S run on batteries?
No. The unit is powered from an AC adapter with a 12V DC, center negative output, drawing 230mA. That draw is well beyond what a battery supplies, so it is an adapter powered unit designed for pedalboard use with a 12V supply.
What is the difference between the CP-100FX-S and the CP-100FX?
The CP-100FX-S is the stereo version. It drops the THRU output and the attenuator of the CP-100FX and adds a right channel input in place of THRU, giving a full stereo path with external stereo devices. The CP-100FX is the mono input, stereo output version and can connect directly to a power amplifier.
Can the Pangaea CP-100FX-S load third-party impulse responses?
Yes. AMT describes the unit as able to emulate the sound of any guitar cabinet by loading the corresponding impulse responses of guitar cabinets. Each preset uses one IR shared by both the left and right channels.
How many presets does the CP-100FX-S hold?
It stores 99 user presets. Each preset can carry the preamp and power amp settings, one cabinet IR for both channels, EQ, filters, and a delay or reverb effect, with up to 10 effects running at once.
Can I run it mono in and stereo out?
Yes. When the signal is connected only to the L input, the device operates in mono input, stereo output mode, so a single mono feed can still drive both output channels.
Does the CP-100FX-S have an XLR output?
Yes. The analog outputs are on XLR and TRS connections, which suits running the unit straight into a mixer or audio interface alongside pedalboard and amplifier setups.
