The Analog Music Company Notorious Rabbit Octave Fuzz Driver (NTRS Mk.1) is a compact analog octave fuzz pedal from Analog Music Company, a crew based out of Kyiv, Ukraine. It is built as a pedal that's anything but basic: a two-knob fuzz that produces octave and synthetic-style textures through a nonlinear gain architecture and passive filtering1.
The circuit: Darlington gain stage, diode clamping and filter network
The signal path runs in three broad stages. The input signal passes through a selectable filter network that defines the frequency content presented to the gain stage. That gain stage is based on a Darlington configuration using both silicon and germanium transistors, so the pedal does not choose between the two transistor types players usually associate with fuzz. After the gain stage, the signal is subjected to diode-based clamping that limits the differential voltage and shapes the waveform. The final stage provides additional gain and low output impedance1.
At higher input levels, the interaction between the clamping, transistor behavior, and amplifier gain can result in complex, unstable, collapsing, or gated waveforms, giving the Notorious Rabbit its distinctly synthetic waveform quality and characteristic sonic and dynamic behavior1.
Because the pedal is designed to interact directly with passive pickups or unbuffered signal sources, it is meant to see your guitar's own signal. Placing it after buffered pedals changes what the gain stage has to work with, so players who want the intended behavior generally put it early in the chain. For more on the effect type, see Octave & Pitch Pedals and Fuzz Pedals1.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day reviewed the pedal on 16 May 2025 and came away impressed by how much ground two knobs cover1.
"The range of sounds pouring out of this black beauty is impressive, especially for a pedal with just 2 knobs, but it delivers the sonic goods on all sorts of crazy levels…"
