The Anasounds x Jack White La Grotte Spring Reverb Tank is a spring reverb pedal made by Anasounds in collaboration with Jack White for Third Man Hardware. Anasounds' own manual introduces it plainly: "La Grotte is the new spring reverb from Anasounds"1. It is a genuine spring reverb tank in a pedal, and it folds the company's earlier two-piece design into a single box: Guitar Pedal X called it "A great all-in-one evolution of Anasounds' Element Spring Tank + Controller Series," with a further third spring added to the Le Bon spring tank2.
What it does
La Grotte is a spring reverb, the effect type that uses actual metal springs to produce the boingy, resonant decay associated with vintage amps and surf guitar. Where Anasounds' earlier Element pedal paired a compact control unit with a separate external spring tank, La Grotte combines the tank and the controls in one enclosure and adds a third spring to the Le Bon tank2. The pedal's outer surface carries four controls: Dry, Wet, Low and High2, giving players a dry/wet balance and low and high shaping of the reverb signal.

Questions
Is La Grotte the same as the Anasounds Element?
No. Guitar Pedal X describes La Grotte as an all-in-one evolution of the Element Spring Tank + Controller Series: it combines the Le Bon spring tank and its control unit in a single enclosure and adds a third spring to the tank. The Element, launched in March 2019, used separate external tanks called Le Bon, La Brute and Le Truand.
How did the Jack White collaboration start?
In 2021, two years after the Element's release, Jack White bought an Anasounds Element and approached the company about a collaboration with Third Man Hardware. A first prototype was finished in 2023, and a prototype was validated at the January 2024 NAMM Show, sealing the collaboration.
