The Beetronics Vezzpa, sold under its full name as the Vezzpa Octave Stinger, is a compact, dual-mode fuzz pedal built around an op-amp circuit. It delivers two distinct voices from one box: FUZZZZ, a thick, gated fuzz aimed at riffs and power chords, and STINGER, which brings up a high octave for aggressive tones that cut through a mix1. Beetronics describes the pedal's character bluntly: "It's actually a wasp, a nasty and aggressive one with an op-amp heart that can produce an extreme high-pitched buzz"2.

The Vezzpa arrived in May 2021 as the latest addition to Beetronics' Babee series, and Guitar.com's news coverage noted it was the first pedal in that series to combine digital controls with an analog fuzz circuit3. It is made in the USA4 and, while designed for guitar, Beetronics says it can also add unique textures to bass and synth setups1.

FUZZZZ and STINGER modes

The two modes are the whole point of the pedal, and they are very different animals.

ModeWhat it does
FUZZZZA big wall of thick, gated fuzz, great for riffs and power chords2678
STINGERBrings up the high octave, aggressive and cutting through the mix12

On FUZZZZ, the Sustain control shapes the fuzz's behavior across a wide range. Beetronics' description: "Turn down the SUSTAIN control to get a spitty fuzzing tone or turn it up for a gated super high gain fuzz"2. Delicious Audio's writeup characterized FUZZZZ mode as "a big wall of fuzz that works great for riffs and power chords"7.

STINGER is where the octave part of the name comes in. Beetronics says it "introduces a searing high-octave fuzz that cuts through any mix"1. Where FUZZZZ is a wall, STINGER is a spike: the high octave comes forward and the pedal gets noticeably more aggressive2.

The controls: Sustain and the multi-function footswitch

The control surface is minimal: one knob and one footswitch.

  • SUSTAIN knob: transitions the fuzz from sputtery, spitty textures at low settings to full-on gated fuzz at high settings1. Guitar.com's launch coverage described it as "a sustain control that takes the pedal from open-sounding to sputtery and gated"3.
  • Multi-function footswitch: a single tap toggles the pedal on/off, a double-tap switches between FUZZZZ and STINGER modes, and holding the switch engages the alternate mode momentarily1.

The momentary hold is the feature that drew the most reviewer attention. Guitar World's Trevor Curwen confirmed the behavior in review: "when the effect is already engaged, a double-click will switch between the Fuzzzz and Stinger modes, while a hold will momentarily swap the modes"4. Guitar.com's reviewer Michael Watts went further:

"The multi-function footswitch is a particularly stylish touch and using it to add fuzzed-out accents can elevate even a pedestrian riff"9

Guitar World also listed "versatile footswitching action" among the pedal's pluses4.

Power and bypass

The Vezzpa requires a 9V DC center-negative power supply, which is not included, and draws approximately 36mA5. There is no battery option in the maker's specifications, so it needs a spot on a pedalboard power supply or its own adapter.

The Vezzpa does not ship with a power supply. You need a 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug before the pedal will run5.

Bypass is true bypass, which Beetronics says preserves your signal when the pedal is disengaged1. The pedal measures approximately 5.5" x 3.5" x 2.75" and weighs around 0.5 lbs, with a package weight of 0.75 lbs12.

Where it came from: the Babee series

The Vezzpa was released in May 2026's opposite, May 2021, announced as out now at £215 in the UK and €239 in the EU31. It joined the Babee series, Beetronics' smaller-format pedal range that also includes the OctaHive710. Guitar.com noted the Vezzpa was the first in the series to pair digital controls with an analog fuzz circuit3, which is what allows the multi-tap footswitch behavior on an otherwise simple two-control pedal.

The enclosure follows Beetronics' hand-painted house style. Guitar.com's launch coverage described "the colourful stained glass design has textured embossing that really makes the artwork stand out"3.

Versions, Custom Shop and limited editions

Beetronics sells the Vezzpa in several tiers beyond the standard Babee series version11:

  • Babee Series: the standard production version10.
  • Custom Shop: individually numbered units (VZ numbers such as VZ3193, VZ2533, VZ2941, VZ1421), including a Custom Shop option where your own name is added to the plate1121314815. A Custom Shop listing was priced at £230.00, and the VZ3193 unit at £207.00, sold out116.
  • Limited Editions: themed runs with names including Redbee, Majin Bee, Cream, Lotus, Donatello, Great Pumpkin, White, Blackbee Edition and Black Friday17181915.
  • BEE STOCK: units with cosmetic scratches, dings or imperfections that "function perfectly sound wise," sold at a discount, one listing showing 15% off the regular price2.

Many of these listings are sold out or down to single units, which is typical of Beetronics' small-batch approach115.

What reviewers said

Published reviews were positive about the core concept. Guitar World's review highlighted the versatile footswitching action as a plus4, and Guitar.com's review titled the pedal "angry, inspiring, all kinds of crazy," with Michael Watts calling the multi-function footswitch a stylish touch that could elevate even a simple riff9. The full review verdicts center on the same territory: an aggressive, characterful fuzz with a genuinely useful momentary trick, rather than a clean, transparent overdrive alternative.

Questions

How do you switch modes on the Beetronics Vezzpa?

With the multi-function footswitch. A single tap turns the pedal on or off, a double-tap switches between FUZZZZ and STINGER modes, and holding the switch engages the alternate mode momentarily, so you can drop in a burst of the other mode without committing to it.

Does the Vezzpa work on bass?

Beetronics designed the Vezzpa for guitar but says it can also add unique textures to bass and synth setups. It is not voiced specifically for bass, so treat it as an experimental option rather than a dedicated bass fuzz.

Is the Beetronics Vezzpa true bypass?

Yes. Beetronics states the Vezzpa uses true bypass switching to preserve your signal when the pedal is disengaged.

Does the Vezzpa come with a power supply?

No. The Vezzpa requires a 9V DC center-negative power supply, which is not included, so you need to supply your own. It draws approximately 36mA.

What is the Vezzpa Octave Stinger?

The Vezzpa Octave Stinger is the full name of the pedal: a compact, dual-mode fuzz built around an op-amp circuit. FUZZZZ gives a thick, gated fuzz for riffs and power chords, while STINGER brings up a high octave that cuts through the mix.
