The Beetronics Vezzpa Octave Stinger is a compact, dual-mode fuzz pedal built around an op-amp circuit. It offers two distinct modes: FUZZZZ, which Beetronics describes as a thick, gated fuzz ideal for powerful riffs, and STINGER, which the maker says introduces a searing high-octave fuzz that cuts through any mix1. On STINGER mode, in the maker's words, "this wasp gets aggressive, bringing up the high octave and cutting through the mix"2.

The pedal is made in the USA, according to Guitar World's review3. While designed for guitar, Beetronics states it can also add unique textures to bass and synth setups4. It sits in the maker's lineup alongside other octave-focused pedals such as the Beetronics OctaHive and the Beetronics WhoctaHell, which work the low octave rather than the high one.

The two modes and the Sustain knob

FUZZZZ is the classic side of the pedal. Beetronics describes it as "a big wall of fuzz, great for the coolest riffs and power chords," with the SUSTAIN control setting its character: turned down for a spitty fuzz tone, turned up for a gated super high gain fuzz8. The maker's summary of the knob is that it transitions "from sputtery, spitty textures to full-on gated fuzz"4.

STINGER is the octave side. Rather than a low octave like the Beetronics WhoctaHell, the Vezzpa brings up the high octave, the territory also covered by the Beetronics OctaHive. Beetronics positions STINGER as the voice that cuts through a mix1.

ControlWhat it does
SUSTAIN knobTransitions from sputtery, spitty textures to full-on gated fuzz4
Multi-function footswitchSingle tap: on/off. Double-tap: switch between FUZZZZ and STINGER. Hold: engage the alternate mode momentarily1

The multi-function footswitch

The single footswitch does all the switching work. A single tap toggles the pedal on and off, a double-tap switches between FUZZZZ and STINGER modes, and holding the switch engages the alternate mode momentarily1. Guitar World's reviewer, Trevor Curwen, describes the same behavior: "when the effect is already engaged, a double-click will switch between the Fuzzzz and Stinger modes, while a hold will momentarily swap the modes"3.

The momentary hold is the performance feature here: you can drop into the high-octave Stinger voice for a phrase and release back to gated fuzz without touching anything else. Guitar World listed "versatile footswitching action" among the pedal's pluses, and noted Lazy Bee and Fast Bee options for footswitching sharpness3.

Power and bypass

The Vezzpa requires a 9V DC center-negative power supply, which is not included1. Current draw is approximately 36mA1, modest enough for most isolated supplies and daisy chains. The pedal features true bypass switching, which Beetronics says preserves your signal when the pedal is disengaged1.

No power supply comes in the box. Every Beetronics listing for the pedal carries the note "Does not include power supply"9, so plan on your own 9V DC center-negative adapter.

Limited editions and Custom Shop units

Beetronics sells the Vezzpa in small runs rather than one standing version. The maker's Vezzpa collection has included limited editions such as the Limited Edition Redbee, the Limited Edition "Great Pumpkin", the Limited Edition Majin Bee, the Limited Edition "Donatello", the Limited Edition "Memorial", the Limited Edition Lotus, the BLACK FRIDAY Limited Edition, and The Blackbee Edition81011.

Alongside those, Beetronics builds Custom Shop units, each carrying an individual number such as VZ2941 or VZ1421, with unit numbers in the range running through VZ3191, VZ2144, VZ2306, VZ1900 and VZ2521 to VZ253475. These are one-off finishes at higher prices: Custom Shop listings have shown £176.00 and £207.00, against £154.00 regular and £123.00 sale pricing on standard listings, all as of October 2026517. A Babee Series version also appears in the maker's collection12.

Many of these listings, including the standard Skeleta Bee Stock edition and Custom Shop units, were shown sold out as of October 202617. BEE STOCK listings, which Beetrons notes may contain minor blemishes or scratches, have carried a 15% discount off the regular price1314.

What reviewers said

Guitar World's review by Trevor Curwen credited the pedal with "versatile footswitching action" and listed its features as "True Bypass, 2x modes, smart footswitch, Lazy Bee and Fast Bee options for footswitching sharpness"3.

Questions

How do you switch modes on the Beetronics Vezzpa?

With the effect engaged, a single tap of the multi-function footswitch toggles the pedal on and off, a double-tap switches between FUZZZZ and STINGER modes, and holding the switch engages the alternate mode only while you keep it held. Guitar World's reviewer called this footswitching action versatile.

Can you use the Vezzpa Octave Stinger on bass?

Beetronics designed the pedal for guitar but states that it can also add unique textures to bass and synth setups. Players using it on bass or synth are getting the same two modes, gated fuzz and high-octave fuzz, with the single Sustain control shaping the character.

Is the Beetronics Vezzpa true bypass?

Yes. Beetronics states the Vezzpa features true bypass switching to preserve your signal when the pedal is disengaged. Guitar World's spec list also confirms true bypass.

Does the Vezzpa come with a power supply?

No. The pedal requires a 9V DC center-negative power supply, and Beetronics notes on its product listings that a power supply is not included. You need to supply your own 9V adapter, drawing approximately 36mA.

What is a Beetronics Custom Shop Vezzpa?

A one-off Custom Shop unit carrying an individual number, such as VZ2941 or VZ1421, with its own finish. Custom Shop listings have carried higher prices than standard limited editions, and Beetronics sells each numbered unit individually on its site.
