StatusReplaced by the BLE4001

The Behringer BLE100 is a bass compressor and limiter pedal, and according to ovnilab.com's review it is Behringer's clone of the Boss LMB-3, a nearly identical copy in both form and function. It is a budget pedal, and the review is equally clear about the trade-offs: cheap, brittle plastic in the housing and footswitch, and a slightly higher noise floor than the Boss it copies. The BLE100 has since been replaced by the current model BLE4001.

What it does

As a compressor and limiter, the BLE100 evens out a bass signal, taming peaks and sustaining quieter notes.

Where the copy falls short of the original, the review names two things. The first is noise: "there is a slightly higher amount of hiss" than the Boss LMB-31. The second is build. "The housing and footswitch are made of cheap, brittle plastic," and the knobs sit on thin plastic stems1. For a pedal that lives on the floor and gets stepped on, that is the practical difference a player is paying for when choosing between the two.

The BLE100 and the BLE400

The BLE100 is no longer the current model. Ovnilab.com notes that "The BLE100 has been replaced by the current model BLE400"1. Players shopping new today are looking at the BLE400; the BLE100 turns up secondhand. For other budget Behringer bass pedals, the Behringer BOD400 and Behringer Bass Overdrive sit in the same family, and the wider field is covered on our compressor pedals and bass pedals pages.
